Highly doubt it and I wouldn't even want those posted for security concerns... this building is already a target. That being said some people always tend to get access to crazy places every once in a blue moon so if they popped up it wouldn't surprise me.

Yeah, probably the best we'll see are existing photos from the outside of when the core was under construction.

It's just about as tall as the tallest in my city (hideous blue and gray box):

Driving east on I-69, I have one hell of a time picturing the base of 1WTC in place of that building. That really drove the scale of this project home for me.

There are numerous shots from inside the core on the official WTC website.

I think you are confusing interior shots of the Memorial with the core. I see no pics taken inside the core.

There are a number of shots taken within the tower, but the core has not gotten to those floors yet.

The current top of steel is about 4 feet above the 24th floor, elevation 239' 4", so call it 243 feet.

The tower is now higher than it is wide.

Durst Once Dissed Freedom Tower—But Now He Wants a Piece!

By Eliot Brown
April 6, 2010

In February 2007, Douglas Durst was no fan of the Freedom Tower. The prominent landlord broadcast this view not only to his peers but to everyone: He took out full-page ads in the city’s major papers with an open letter to then governor Eliot Spitzer asking him to halt construction of the 1,776-foot tower at the World Trade Center.

“Why, now, is the government planning to pay for the construction of an overly expensive design to be occupied by government agencies at overly expensive rents, all at the expense of taxpayers’ money which could be put to better uses?” asked the letter, signed by Mr. Durst and Anthony Malkin, an owner of the Empire State Building. “The Freedom Tower, at a cost of $2.4 billion, is far too important an undertaking to be mired in inefficient planning, hasty design, or occupancy by government agencies paying submarket rents.”

Mr. Durst has had a change in heart.

With the tower now more than 200 feet off the ground, he is one of four bidders vying to buy a stake of the building from the Port Authority, which is developing the tower, since renamed One World Trade Center. With a desire to have a real developer as the public face of the building, and with the appeal of some cash, the Port Authority is choosing between Mr. Durst’s the Durst Organization, Mort Zuckerman’s Boston Properties, Stephen Ross’ Related Companies and Hines Interests, each of which have offered about $100 million for a non-traditional equity stake in the tower.

Perhaps Mr. Durst no longer thinks the giant new tower will flood the market with too much space. Perhaps he’s come around to love a design he criticized. Perhaps he’s changed his sour views on using government tenants to prop up the tower and pay more than they normally would.

Or maybe he just smells a good offer at a time when prices are low, and any allegations of a double standard are far outweighed by the appeal of the deal.

After all, while Mr. Durst is comfortably seated in his new, full and wildly successful Bank of America tower, across from Bryant Park, many of his colleagues in the industry are cash-poor and busy shuttling among angry lenders seeking to reclaim their buildings.

“Timing is everything in real estate, and we think now is the time for One World Trade Center,” said Mr. Durst, who followed in father Seymour’s footsteps to oppose construction of the World Trade Center. “It is going to be the only new building downtown and possibly the only new building in the city at the time.”

Plus, why engage in futile opposition when a good deal awaits?

“The building is going to go ahead no matter what anybody says,” he said. “Similarly with the Times Square redevelopment project, we bitterly opposed that, but once the decision was made to go forward, we were a part of it.”

“That is,” he added with a facetious tone, “in the past we’ve been against something before we were for it.

I agree with the "WTC" ghosts... They really remind me of the twin towers...

The memorials have really come a long way and they look great! The outline of the twin towers make the site that much more interesting :) Can't wait till the "junk" around the memorials is cleared and replaced with grass/trees :) !

This is like a dream come true. We all have been waiting forever but the pieces of the puzzle are coming together and I think everything is going to work out fine with the whole site. I WTC is amazing and I think it will gain the title as one of the best modern skyscrapers ever built. NYC's downtown area will look even more powerful than before and really represent the healing process of the people who's lives were greatly effected by the tradgedy of Septmeber 11th 2001. Again I must say RIP to the victims.

The brown steel is just unpainted. If you look at the closeups you can se areas of very light grey, that's where stuff gets welded together.

quick question what is with the blue scaffolding near the top

Those are work platforms, the blue netting is fall protection. There is alot of work to be done at the edge of the floor slabs and they just make all that work alot safer to do.

Hey, does anybody know if the new One World Trade Center Tower will have automated window washing machines like the former Twin Towers?

The Twins didn't have automated WW machines, they had hanging scafold mounted on remote control outriggers.

Pritty much the same setup as Tower One, with one exception, the outriggers well run on a ring track just below the comuincations rings.

Search my posts, I posted pics of the WW equipment prints.

Hey NJIT. my old school .

I remember that view. Use to go up there every chance I had when I was on Governor's Island. Some days there would be low lying clouds that topped out at about 1000', and it would be empty because people thought they wouldn't be able to see anything. You'd be up there in the sunlight in the middle of the most magical panorama you'd ever seen, and they'd be down walking in the fog.
It was a real shame hearing that the new guy won't have a rooftop observation deck. It's just not quite the same, looking out a window.

You know what? We're lucky to be getting anything at all up there. So I'll take what we're getting and be happy about it. Could have been much higher as well (as it was originally planned), but it is what it is.
