:previous: Very nice touchup, and a great shot.

I just discovered a huge flaw in the hights of the near by towers compaired to Tower One.

The official hight of all the towers in question is measured from the ground. So for example, One Liberty Plaza is shorter than Tower Seven but it's roof is higher above sea level than #7.

Tower One will surpass One liberty plaza in hight above sea level AFTER it passes the taller #7.

JACKinBeantown

I thought all official heights were counted from street level at the main entrance to the building. (And no, this is not a roof height vs. spire discussion.)

It's the lowest at-grade open air entrance, but Zen is not talking about height. He's referring to elevation. Because the land it sits on is higher up, 1 Liberty has a higher roof than 7 World Trade, but 7 is still the taller building. Taller is not synonymous with higher, despite the many poorly written media articles proclaiming this or that the "highest building in the world."

so this will make 1WTC the 39th tallest building in NY. next one to pass is the metropolitan life tower, with a height of 700ft. :)

Hunser, that's really cool to know - and I'm sure many others would agree - can you keep updating the "countdown" for us as WTC1 gets higher? 39-38-37-36... I guess we will be in the top 10 by April -

So i was bored in Tech theatre class when we got an assignment to color a roman empire person. i didnt really wanted to color so i sketched a drawing of new york city with the new WTC towers. i did not use a ruler and it all came from my head.
it took me about 45 to 50 minutes. its very small and i am now thinking to draw this in a HUGE poster size. :)

I was looking around Lower Manhattan in Google Earth this morning and noticed that someone is updating the WTC site regularly - to the point where the 3D model of Tower 1 is only one row of glass behind the actual building. And the construction site modeled around it is pretty nice.

Check it out sometime.

I forgot alllllll about the 3D function of Google Earth. Because, if you notice...the aerial photo of the worksite only has a photo from a few years ago. WTC1 is still below ground level in the "updated " photo they're using. But...when it comes to 3d...it's only a few days old. Thanks for the reminder!!!

Speaking of Tower 1 height, One more 2 floor raise and the view from the second cam from Discovery on top of Tower 7 will not be able to see The main land of New Jersey anymore. Plus i think in 6 floors ones it surpasses Tower7, Tower1 will be visable through the entire city and thus forth Dominate the NYC Sky line.

No problemo. Yeah, they always tend to leave the cleaning until the entire facade is done. Unless, they want to clean them up for an event, and the building isn't complete yet.

The construction of One World Trade Center reminds me of the pictures of the construction of the original Twin Towers so much. The only difference is there is no twin here. A few years ago people were criticizing on how slow it took to see it rise. Now it's rising, and I want it to keep rising till it reaches it's final height. So keep making the building go up Freedom Tower workers, and ignore the critics lol.

Agreed. Reminds me of the same thing except that there are only 2 cranes as opposed to the 8 used to build the originals. I watched those 2 go up from my 3rd floor classroom when i was in grammar school. I remember that as clear as crystal watching the north tower rise then the south rise above the tree line soon after.

That's because they've been there all winter. There was a big lull in curtain wall installation over the last month, so the glass they had put up prior to this new row has a lot crap built up from all those snow storms.

From Staten Island... I love this angle, but the conditions could have been clearer.

Hi im new. I love the first one how the Empire State Building is in the middle of it it all. I live in North Carolina now, but I grew up in Staten Island and I love that last shot

I like how you can see the reflection of the bottom of the American flag. It almost makes it look like you can see the whole flag in reverse.

The site as it currently stands, with a big whole in the middle. But nothing strange about that... :hmmm:

From today:

This is a strange angle. It would look better if the bridge wasn't partially wrapped in plastic. If I understand correctly, 1 WTC will be done before the work on the bridge!

See the highest horizontal steel. That is going to be floor 58 or 693'. Count from the 1st office floor. Floor 20.

With regard to STR's render, what's that one on the far right with the facade that looks like the melted flesh of some horror-FPS bogey?

1,2,3, 7 showing internal structure. Would have done 4, but the model isn't built (yet) to split the facade off from the internals. Note the huge amounts of open space in the upper floors of 7WTC.

I cannot believe how much dead space there is at the top of WTC1. I feel like it's really only about 1100 feet tall...the rest is merely mechanical space and a spire.
