i was looking at that picture and it looks very symbolic. the fog looks like the smoke that came out from Ground zero right after the old towers fell, and now in the picture you got Tower 1 rising up from that smog aka smoke look alike. its so symboloic its sureal.

As long as it's still going up, we may as well start stepping up the photography, for sure. Long as the construction process seems to last, it will be nicer to have pictures of this when it opens. Your info about the mafia is on par, didn't know they were still active but obviously that's a historic connection... Life around that area back in the day was mafia-central, so i've been told...

Well to answer your question I am going to answer it in 3 parts.

Part 1- The Roof will be 1,368 feet tall.
Part 2- The Spire will be 408 feet tall.
Part 3- Roof height Plus Spire Height will equal 1,776 feet tall.

that height was added a little over a year ago when CTBUH demanded that all buildings be measured from street level to the top of the superstructure (excluding spires, antennas etc.).through calculation from the new measurements 1373 is what we got. technicalloy 1,368 is correct and so is 1,373 it all depends on how your measuring.

CTBUH decided that height should be measured from the lowest street level entrance even if it is not the main entrance. Because the Vesey Street side is a few feet lower than the other 3 sides they are measuring from there, thus the extra 5 feet.

Can I ask a nitpicky question?

Why is it that movie directors, and apparently video game designers, insist on showing skylines of cities under bombardment with big holes and fires burning in towers, as if they'd be structurally stable at that point? If the 9/11 attacks taught us anything it's that this particular type of post-disaster depiction is pretty far off.

Maybe they were hit just a few minutes before the video. Though it would be rather strange that so many buildings would be hit nearly simultaneously.

I don't recommend wishing for anything to be knocked down, as square or bulky as those towers may be.

But anyway, this recent video game featuring the WTC reminds me of a website I visited once, called "WTC in movies", go do a google search, it listed all the films that featured shots of the twin towers, and I think it would be a great idea if there was also a site or maybe a compiled list of all the places the new WTC already appears in pop culture.

Why would that be strange? I don't think I've ever heard of a bombardment that involved hitting on target at a time.

I was just making a silly point anyway... it's a videogame. If you really wanted to get technical, a major armed conflict (as opposed to a terrorist attack) probably wouldn't involve military strikes on Manhattan at all, except perhaps for the West Side rail yards or bridge and tunnel entrances, because office and apartment buildings aren't strategic targets and there's no industry or key transportation infrastructure here (aside from the aforementioned rail yards). Instead, a belligerent at war with the U.S. would be busy bombing the harbors over in Jersey, the oil refineries, the airports, and probably mining the Verrazano Narrows...

But I digress, as usual.

Someone said they were testing the other waterfall this week. When those get up and running, with the new wtc buildings reflection, it's going to be so beautiful. That peaceful sound of the waterfall running...........it's going to be totally awesome. I imagine when people go down there, they're not going to want to leave.

WTC is looking beautiful.

How in the world did those 3 commie towers find their way into Tribeca? They're so random..

Also, I love Trump Soho and the way it glistens in photos!

Those kinds of apartments buildings forced their way into every corner of the city in the latter half of the 20th century...

The picture looks beautiful with the waterfall. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to come up for the 10th anniversary or wait until next year when the building is topped out. My uncle lives in nyc and I've been trying to get him to take some pics and post them on here.

The top 4 enclosed floors of 1 WTC in this picture are above 7WTC. Are those floors 62-65. So 1 WTC passed 7 WTC at floor 61.

Yay, they're filling in steel behind the blue, so if this weather keeps up, we'll be another almost 30 feet up, to the 68th floor I presume?

This may have been on this forum once or twice but I haven't seen it on her. I really think it captures the different emotions of New York. I've been there once in my life and all I want to do is go back. Going there really started my whole fascination with architecture. Anyways back to the video! ;)

Those towers are part of Independence Plaza built in the early 70s and were there before Tribeca was even called Tribeca.

The apartments are actually quite nice, with awesome views, obviously.

I imagine one will never get the chance to experience "peaceful" at the WTC memorial site, as I can easily see it drawing crowds on par with Rockefeller Center at Christmas time, but at all times of the year. There will always be hordes of people there (mostly tourists). It's New York City, can't argue with that, but I don't think anyone will ever find solitude at the WTC site. Too much of a tourist draw.

Don't wanna be a Stick in The Mud, BUT: considering what actually happened in Lower Manhattan not that long ago, these images are in ghastly taste. :slob::yuck:

The caption for that photo says "86th Floor." Now, the top of the FT will be at a vastly greater height than 7 WTC (not even considering the spire). If there's only 15 or 20 more floors to go... how can that be?

Probably ESB 86th floor- the observatory.

Glass (sorry, I mean cladding) is really moving along quickly now. Looks like they're starting another row (from camera 1 view point). That only took 3 days to do all 4 sides. At this pace they'll be up another 30 floors or so time Sept 11th comes rolling around.

i thought that the first moment i saw these but chose to keep quiet as i prefer not to flame here and then when i saw the images again this morning it's like "enough already!". so, call me a stick in the mud too but if not "ghastly" then in very poor taste and i mean buy the manufacturer as well. Manhattan should be off limits to this type of "entertainment"

I think we all need to grow up and realize that this is a work of fiction. I mean, can we not have any games or movies about war against america? What about WW2 games that feature pearl harbor? Should those be banned?

My point is that even though they are showing lower manhattan under attack, we need to realize that it is a work of fiction and art.
