as we're in the very end of september, the tower must be around 310m tall; do you know if the cranes have already reached the symbolic height of 400 meters ??

Past few weeks of steel erection has gone wide open throttle. Im guessing there is an aim to get as much steel up before winter kicks in and the slow down hits again. By the end of the year structural height should be somewhere into the 90's level, at the mechanical floors.

A week or two should start to see the curtain wall appear over 7WTC. Should be able to get some killer morning shots from Carlos's terrace in the morning soon with the glass up.

Well, it all depends how long the Mechanical Floors take. I estimate we'll top 1,200 feet by the end of the year because the office floors end at at 88 (1,093' 4" above street level) so that should happen by the end of October or sometime in early November. From there the mechanical floors will rise so maybe they'll get another 100 feet or so up by the time the year ends bumping it up close to 1,200 feet.

We are getting so close to 1wtc totally filling the void that the terrorists made. Kudos to the ironworkers and all those who are making it a reality. Can't wait for the topping out, that will truly be a memorable, full circle moment for the city. Just a few more floors!! :tup: :cheers:

Correct you are, except for the last part....still quite a few floors to go.....over 300 feet to go yet to the roofline! :cheers:

It won't be the second tallest until it tops the Bank of America Tower (1,200'). By the time we hit the 93rd Floor it will be over 1,200 feet making it the second tallest. I anticipate that will happen sometime later this year. I really don't control how fast or slow the construction moves but if the weather doesn't interfere too much hitting 1,200 by the end of 2011 shouldn't be a problem. Tower 1 is only the second tallest to the roof which is pretty good since ESB was actually the only building in NYC after 9/11 to have a rooftop over 1,000 feet.

Anyone have an idea about how much media attention the topping out of 1WTC will get? I would think it would be a pretty big story when it happens due to NY's skyline being reborn, and obviously due to reclaiming the sky after the towers were lost. I've seen the old pictures of the toppng out of the old wtc and it looked pretty cool. Can't wait. :cool:

If you count up from 20 they are working on floors 82 and 83 right not, the tip of the steel is where the bottom of the 84th floor will be. (1040 feet)

Happy Deepavali! The fireworks over Manhattan and Brooklyn were shot off at the South Street Seaport to celebrate the Indian festival of Deepavali.

Deepavali marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year. It literally translated means 'Row of Lights.' It celebrates the victory of Goodness over Evil and Light over Darkness and it ushers in the new year.

My visit to Ground Zero/The World Trade Center site today, October 2, 2011...
It's hard to explain what the feeling is at the site and around the World Financial Centre... it's such a busy area with so much life, and construction, yet, there's a hollowness and surrealness knowing that the Twin Towers once stood on this ground....

I have noticed that they have stopped putting on the corner pieces of the cladding and are pyramid-ing the full glass panels from there. They have completed about two full floors that way. Does anyone know why or what the issue may be with the corner pieces?

I think I know why, or at least I have a theory. If you look closely at the KPI-TV webcam, you'll notice that the corner steel has a different shape to it now, so perhaps these new corner pieces of cladding still need to be fabricated.

well, maybe because renderings ARE "fake"............but don't diminish the incredible work people like STR do and have done to give us a great sense of what we are going to see upon completion......... instead be glad that the real deal is even better than the awesome renderings
