Notice in the last pic that the trench didn't look too big in most shots, but now there's equipment inside, it gives us a sense of the massive scale this property is/has undergone.

Impressive. Good shots Slugbech. The Index will be a nice addition to the skyline as well, especially from those angles.

Slug, I have no idea what that trench is for....I don't recognise it from that angle. It's massive!

Is it a road, rail, tunnel, waterworks, canal, storm drain or something else?

Anyone?

Looks like they skipped floor 137 too. That is the 3rd skipping of a floor I have seen confirmed by the photos.

There should also be a 4th skip around 112, but I have not seen closeups of that part with floor numbers visible.

Burj Dubai, the world's tallest man-made structure, will soon invite selected global corporations and leading business houses to purchase exclusive suites, to be located on floors 112 to 189.

These suites will host some of the most important corporate leaders, who will run businesses literally from the 'top of the world'.

These will be some of the world's most exclusive business suites ever built, Emaar officials said. The prices of the suites have not yet been revealed.

Though its height has so far been a well-kept secret, Burj Dubai will have at least 189 floors, according to presentation model at the Burj Dubai sales centre.

Robert Booth, Emaar Properties' executive director, said on Monday, "The construction has been planned in such a way, that we will be able to change its height while the construction is in prog-ress."

Transporting people vertically in an efficient and smooth way, while keeping the privacy of hotel guests, residents, corporate officials as well as access to the public to the building's facility, has been a logistics challenge for the planners.

Hotel guests, residents and office tenants will have separate entries to the elevators and access points to the tower.

However, 50 elevators will carry people to the 'Sky Lobby', located on the 112th floor where visitors to the corporate suites will gain access to special elevators. It will take a visitor just under a minute to reach the 112th floor from the ground.

Emaar will soon invite selected global corporations to purchase corporate suites an exclusive community of the world's top companies.

Samsung Corporation is constructung the building along with BeSix and Arabtec.

The structure is being constructed on an 80,000 square foot, 3.7 metre thick rough slab, which holds together 192 50-metre deep piles.

From April 15, a floor will be added every three days. The project will be completed in 2008.

Burj Dubai will employ high performance exterior cladding system to withstand the extreme weather.

Primary materials include reflective glazing, aluminum and textured stainless steel spandrel panels and the vertical stainless tubular fins accentuating the height and the slenderness of the tower will be used.

The top of the building will sway about 1.5 metres each way, but the residents won't feel or notice it since there is no reference point.

Every 25 floors, Burj will have a 'refuge area' for emergencies. The building's mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) tender has not yet been issued. Emaar officials hinted, they will invite MEP bids before the end of this year which will address a number of operational issues.

"The tower design created by celebrity architect Adrian Smith for Chicago-based Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) is inspired by the geometrics of the desert flower and the patterning systems employed in Islamic architecture.

"It combines these historical and cultural influences with cutting-edge technology to achieve a high performance building which will set a new standard for development in the Middle East and become the model for the future of the city of Dubai," Booth said.

When completed Burj Dubai will hold the record in all four categories as recognised by the New York-based global authority Council on Tall Building and Urban Habitat highest structure, roof, antenna and occupied floor.

i'll look for the link i lost it, but there's prove there to say that elevator panel was true then??? i never thought in my mind there would be 77 floors for corporate suites :eek::eek:

Hey no worries T 1000.

Just to reiterate, I'm not the person who originally came accross this.

It was a tip off from a good SSP friend of mine who himself was tipped off.

Only 3 forumers know of this and I was the 3rd....but the only one to infultrate the server security (as the kick ass programmer that I am) but the real credit should go to the one who so far has remained annonymous.

He will come out of the woodwork if/when he is ready!

You know who you are....and thank you again my friend.

But most importantly, what if you got this 1% stuff as early as a week ago? Especially if all this turns out to be accurate?

yeah, a bit old, but at least it contains the 2 large official press photos (biggest ones yet) that Emaar was handing out. Thanks for the link Cbautz. Funny they handed out the WTB press photo that was quoted by several press agencies as being dated July 15. I guess it takes some time to get the pic to press for a weekend announcement.

I work in the press and the technical time that is needed for something to be printed is several hours before the issuse goes out for printing. Usualy all the stuff is worked out at lest the day before, that's for weekly and monthly magazines, to have time to correct possible errors. With Internet magazines and sites there's no such issue as we know : ) They need a couple of seconds. So it's all in Emaar's PRs hands. I think they just used the older picture and send it out with the accurate date just for reference or they requested all to be announced during the weekend but didn't bother to send the photographer to make a new session and choose new pictures.

Again thanks to Imre and SkyTower for the updates. I hope they approve the updated spire. Requoting Pooh - The longer the merrier

I've found the complete Burj Dubai Tower cashflow archive which I'm in the process of converting into an interactive webpage (so others can't edit the numbers and re-distribute it)

It specifically has two entries for a "Tuned Mass Damper", with costings of $10,000,000 each for both September and October 2008.

The new page will be viewable on the site in a few hours.....but I've found LOADS of new goodies.

Most of them don't have program applications attatched to them in the document properties, so I'm having to create the programs so I can view them....then export them into a program that everyone can view....so it's taking much longer than I'd hoped.

God bless the freedom of information act! :haha:

what???? 5 months to pour 17 floors?
Are you just yankin our cranks or what??

By the way....if somebody hacked emmars computers, it's best to not say that one is in contact with the hacker.
Are you kidding?
You may be getting a knock on your door soon bro. I wouldn't want to be you about now.

But I'm guessing this is info that has been officially declassified by Emmar and allowed out onto the net.
Either way - I don't think we have the full story here.

No - it's not on the net???? what?
I think the massive new info purportedly leaked from emmars servers, weather by a spy, a hacker, a sabateur, or with authorization by emmar, posted here lately, qualifies as being "on the net".

Oh yeah - learning stuff from fiction movies is a no-no for me.
I got burned on that deal once - lol.
Although I did like "Swordfish" very much!

I hope you do have it covered bro.
We will all miss you if your gone.

I'm just saying if you get the stuff - you should say "it arrived at your doorstep in a basket" and u have no idea where it came from.
Just to be safe.

And what's with the 5 months to pour 17 floors? Is that a mistake?

On topic: Reading some of the Info especially the safety reports I'm getting a bit concerned. One of them showed what the poor welds led to, and when having such a tall construction (it's gonna be longer than the route I walk every day from my tram stop to the university which takes me about 8-10 minutes) with bugy welds it creates worries about the safety of the whole thing.

An another thing looking the Burj from Google Earth I started to think how long of a shadow it will make when completed. It'll sure cover at least a block or two. And during sunsets...:runaway:

I've bought it as 25 way fractional ownership. I've sold it to 17 people in x 2 week fractions, 1 x 12 week and 1 x 4 week fractions.
After 25 years it all comes back to me. I'll retire then at 55 and enjoy one hell of a view.

Hey gang,

Back from a month long trip to Greece.

I see lots of new information.

Skytower, you MONSTER, where did you come up with all that superb info? Thanks to you and Fury for all those supreme updates and also thanks to Imre for the great shots. So we now have 529m. I do like to ask this....what about that "occupiable" floor 171? Skytower, what is your gut feeling on the amount of occupiable floors? I know in your podcast with Richie Gill (see allaboutskyscrapers for this one) you were stating something like 175 floors (correct me please if I mis-quoted you). Also in your super site dubaimegaprojects.com you have the total floor plates to 214 but you have occupiable floors to 164. Any elaborations to this?

BTW, with all your information Skytower, I'm sure you know the final height of this building.....+/- 10m ;)

I still maintain that it will clear 900m but my original guess is 1km. Hey you never know. I remember you did tell the forum once that with information from Duncan McKenzie, we will be pleasantly surprised.

Burj Dubai plans New Year's Eve launch
by Rob Corder on Monday, 30 July 2007

The tower is expected to officially open before Christmas 2008.
The world's tallest building is planning to launch in style with a glitzy bash to ring in the New Year, according to the tower's project director.

Speaking exclusively to Arabian Business, George Sang revealed that on December 31 next year the Burj Dubai will host a massive New Year's Eve party to celebrate the tower's completion.

He said the tower is expected to officially open before Christmas 2008.

Sang remained tight-lipped over the height of Burj Dubai. Estimates range from 700-1000 metres, with many speculating the final height will be around 808 metres.

Cladding of the building in reflective glass began seven weeks ago, so Dubai residents are finally beginning to see the gleaming needle that the tower will eventually become. (arabianbusiness.com)

the highest floor will probably be at 701m. cuz there has been plans showing it being at 701m. but idk, what use it could be. most likely it will be a tent office.

I hope They will do something similar to what they do with Taipei 101 at New Year's eve!

Can anyone tell me the difference between the resdential apt and luxury apts in the burj

besides the fact that the luxury apts start from level 72 one would think that all the apts in the worlds tallest building would be of a high standard regardless of what level they are on !!

Wow, those pictures of the "lake mock up" Imre have really got me excited. That ponds got to be at least 15 feet on each side. Really, this has far exceeded my expectations. I mean, I couldn't have even begun to imagine something so amazing, am I right? I was expecting something with a lot more algae or trash...and frogs. Where are the frogs?

Also, are there any pictures of the finished building? I'd like to see the building with all the glass put on.

Hey Skytower?

Are you really going to be a Landlord?
Which apartment did you buy? On what level?
You must be very wealthy in order to buy a place there.
Must be nice.

Are there many other people doing the same idea as you?
Maybe up to a 1/4 of the building will be rentals.
That will lend a real air of prestige to the place eh? :slob:

Here is a shot of part of the revised construction schedule.
shows Aug 15 2009 for completion of the whole project.

Here is a summary progress chart from April 30 2007.
The total project is 25.25 % behind. The office and Pool annexes are way behind.

The question is - did they revise the completion date before or after April 30 ? If it was after, completion could be much later than Aug 2009. Bloody interesting stuff.
