>.> Yes, I go to Shabusen on Burrard nearly everyday when I am in Vancouver. On a first name basis with the owner... they have the best sushi and shabu shabu, so long as you do not elect for the all you can eat menu, in which case they give you smaller, less quality food for a tiny bit less $$. Unless, of course, you are a never ending eater you are better off paying by the dish...

And since it is the photo thread, photos of the best Vancouver has to offer :P

Better than not having enough!

How so? Prime real estate in our downtown core has been given to cheap, short, bland looking condos. Our skyline has been over run with them. IMO not having enough would be better. Not having any would be the best.

AlexYVR
Jun 20, 2008, 1:54 AM
Because all those 'short, bland' condos are what give Vancouver its unique appeal - a population that both lives and works (to some extent) downtown. Certainly more so than most other cities in the world. Say what you want about the architecture - which, you're right, is for the most part bland - but there is no faulting the logic. Not to mention that the city's allowance of all those short, bland CP condos resulted in a city with the 2nd or 3rd most percentage of green space in North America. . .the list goes on :notacrook:

I'm just talking about the skyline though. That was my original comment. IMO it's not visually appealing. I much rather prefer our neighbour's skylines (Calgary and Seattle).

AlexYVR
Jun 20, 2008, 2:08 AM
For purely aesthetic reasons, yes - but then that's not really the point of a skyline, is it? I'd rather have something functional and ugly, especially since the endless sea of medium-green does do such a good job of highlighting our stunners (One Wall, RC when it arrives). As tired as it is, I also like to let the mountains do the talking.

Ahh today was the most perfect of summer days. Besides a few days of rain recently, we've been having many many of these kinds of days this summer.

I tell ya, I've lived in a bunch of top cities around the World for extended periods of time (NYC, LA, Tokyo), but NOTHING has come close to living in Downtown Vancouver. It's truly amazing, I love it. Everything is so close by, I don't even need to drive anywhere, heck, I don't even have to go outside to go grocery shopping. :haha: I don't think it can get any better... it really is the best place on Earth to live.

It was $693,000 in 2005. The furnishing... a good percentage of that on top :yuck:

Do people furnish their condo to live in or do they do it for their friends to look at?

Does it not look livable? It is all quite comfortable :) All of the chairs and sofa were made to my specifications of length, width, softness / firmness.

Correct me if I'm wrong but those aren't his, they're just finds from flickr in general. They be credited to give credit where credit is due as they really are nice photos. Again, if I'm wrong and they are all yours, I apologize.

no your right. i don't believe i've ever claimed them to be my own though.
i try and credit as much as possible but often it's hard to credit each and every photographer out there simply because i save them on my desktop and host the pictures myself later.

not sure the way around that. i like sharing pics but damn, i do have a life.
