I was working in the MNP Tower a few weeks ago and I had access to quite a few floors. Pictures were taken with my phone and weather was shit.

I just realized that I never posted all the photos from our massive rental hunt in last spring.

One unit we saw was an older unit in the Bauhinia tower in Coal Harbour. It was a huge 1500 sqft suite, but it was only the 6th floor with barely any view and the suite had not been renovated since 1998, when the building was completed. No thank you.

http://vuosiamaailmalla.fi/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/bauhinia1.jpg

http://vuosiamaailmalla.fi/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/bauhinia3.jpg

http://vuosiamaailmalla.fi/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/bauhinia2.jpg

We were really tempted about Coal Harbour area and saw several units in several buildings. Cascina is one of the front-row buildings, offering open views of Burrard Inlet. This unit was only on the 4th floor, but the area is so quiet and it was a very good size 1350 sqft unit.

The only problem was that we discovered several places where water damage had clearly happened and had not been addressed properly. Also the previous tenants have had kids which showed as damage on walls. The owner was not willing to do anything to address these so paying $$$ for such was a no-no as well.

Did you ever end up moving anywhere, Klazu?

We had to vacate the unit in One Wall Centre, so we had to take a month-to-month furnished rental. For the last 10 months we have been living in The Max (http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=217586), but we are planning on returning to house hunting this summer.

Let's see what new tricks the market has in its sleeves.

Was that pile of concrete and stone rubble part of the film, or just something the city had to sweep out of the way for the production?

One of the reasons that the Old Post Office needs to remain is because of how often it is used in film production! Seriously, it seems like every week something is filming inside or outside that building.

A couple of pics of Robson Square today. The main 4/20 thing was down at Sunset Beach but they had a small setup today by the art gallery. I guess to kind of meet and greet people arriving downtown for 4/20 and to redirect them to the new location. They also had a shuttle bus service set up. There were a fair number of police around. Sorry, no pics from Sunset Beach.

Yeah most definitely bring your telephoto lens when you go. My basic 50mm lens did not do the incredible views any justice.

The hike took a buddy and I six hours return from the ferry terminal. If you go make sure you bring a map because the trail markers can be a bit sporadic and sketchy at times.

You know you are allowed to re-enter Vancouver proper whenever you like? ;)

Nowadays one needs a tourist visa as well to carry his passport when crossing the Great Wall of Boundary to the Kingdom of Vancouver, ruled by the wise and just King Robertson. His fort at Cambie and Broadway is where the infamous bicycle throne is located, rumoured to be mended from one thousand bicycles that the king has acquired from the annual VPD auction.

I believe it is easier to cross the deep moat rom North Shore, guarded by the empty towers of Coal Harbour. It's a complicated process for us suburban peasants and many times we just have to enjoy our simple rural life without the joys of this faraway land the locals bards sing about. :(

Okay, here's an art installation I like. It's by the Shangri La tower on Georgia Street. These light plastic cones are weighted down by floating balls. It was sort of interesting when I took this pic a few days ago but it was still. When I went by today on the bus it was full of action as it was blown about in the wind. All the cones would suddenly flop over in one direction and then pop back up and fall over in a new direction. I think that corner catches the different gusts of wind that make it very kinetic. If you're downtown on a blustery day I recommend going by to have a look.

Perhaps you haven't heard but we artificially limit the height of our towers so it's really not a good indicator of our stature.

Nice photo though.

You would hate some large cities in Japan then.

I may be wrong but from what I saw in person and have searched on the database, the city of Fukuoko (metro 5.5 million) only has a single tower taller than Vancouver's tallest (an observation tower at 234 meters, but the bulk of the tower tops out at around 160 meters). The second tallest is 149 meters...

Vancouver is actually overall taller than many Japanese cities, especially those similar in population. Same goes for Europe.

Vancouver's general approach to height seems to be mid range on the world scale.

It is not a tall city, but also it is not a stout city either. Despite not being extremely tall, it is still tall enough to have a "city of towers" feeling IMO.

Toronto and especially Calgary are actually really tall for their population sizes in regards to cities around the world overall. (no they are not among the super tall cities, but such cities are actually the exceptions, not the rules, and often have much larger populations than any city in Canada).

Someone (Klazu? :) should take some downtown skyline shots from near where the East Van cross monument is on Clark, it is such a good viewpoint for having the towers rise up. I go to the skyline thread on the general Canada forum and Vancouver has some good ones up there, but for some reason the photos are always a bit underwhelming compared to the reality, you don't get that rising feeling. Also I went up to the top of Queen E park last week to see the snow scene, and didn't realize the skyline vantage point you get up there is unreal, would love to see some good real camera photos of the skyline from up there too ;)
