In a sense, yeah, if you think about it that way. However, according to CTBUH's BS, that ain't the case. Otherwise we would be touting Sears as 527m and one of the late WTC's a 526m tower. Clearly not the case. Although I would wish the general public did consider antennas as an actual part of the skyscraper.

Ah well, enough of that :D

I like minimalist but I also like ornate when the occasion is right. The Jin Mao is very ornate and the WFC is the exact opposite, which actually serves to benefit both buildings. If both tried to gain your attention with decorative, sophisticated detail one would inevitably out-do the other. But the way they turned out (one ornate / one minimalist) they're friends and not competitors (despite the fact that WFC absolutely dominates height-wise.)

That road leads to the tunnel to the Bund side of the river. That's a serious choke point as there are only so many ways across the Huangpu. The subway is one of the alternatives though.

WOW! The balance of blue and black make it my all time favourite. I just hope they fill in the glass gaps at the e-levels.

It is amazing how this tower makes Jin Mao look almost insignificant in size. It is turning out to be a decent looking building after all.

Man, the Oriental Pearl is such an eye sore. There must be a way to fix it. How about getting rid of that pink glass and replace it all with silver/blue glass? The concrete needs to be painted, or better yet, cladded with stainless steel.

If I remember correctly, March 2008 is the opening date, but that could mean just the base. Taipei 101 did just that. The mall below opened it's doors at the advertised time, but the tower took a few more months.

I found a slightly new vantage point in an office tower. The windows were tinted, so it wasn't as apocalyptic outside as shown in this snap

Nice. It has been quite hazy lately though. :yuck:

I think SWFC looks awesome now that the framework is out of the hole. I can't wait to see it finished. It really is a monster of a building.
