June and July vs 2019 will be the interesting points of comparison with all the new services. It's gonna be close.

Does anyone know what percent of Lynx flying is out of YYC? I thought I saw some adds like YUL-YYT, maybe they are trying to spread out a little.

Has anyone flown Lynx to Vancouver and back? Are they reliable?

Need to fly out next week for an appointment and am wondering if it's worth the risk. The flight is about half what WJ is charging.

Colleague flew it 3 times last August-September. Was reliable. Seems they focus more on reliability than the Flairs of the world.

Thanks MT. I have enough margin that if I have to, I can walk to WJ and jump on one of their flights.

FCO has pretty strong bookings, I can see it eventually running the entire IATA summer season (late March-early November).

CDG also back today too. Initially 4x weekly, before going daily late May.

In a little over 2 weeks, WS will have up to 5 long haul departures a day.

Just did the Vancouver and back Lynx thing.

We were 45 minutes late boarding on the way to Vancouver.

Close to an hour late boarding on the way back to Calgary.

Planes were full on both legs, which is good for Lynx.

There looked to be some issues with carry on baggage in Vancouver last night. The gate agent was trying to make people fit their bags into the slot device they have at the gate, which wasn't going very well.

Zero communications from the gate agents when the boarding time came and went. The poor fellow appeared to be very new and was not wearing a Lynx uniform, looked to be some other type of airport contractor.

Planes are very nice/new, they seem to fly a lot faster than I am used to on WJ/AC 737s, but have no hard data to confirm that.

Wasn't a terrible experience, but if being on time is important for making a connection or being somewhere at a specific time, it's probably best to fly elsewhere.

Does anyone know how long it normally takes to turn a 737 with 160 ish passengers? About an hour to groom the plane, unload and load bags and refuel? I wonder if Lynx is optimistic in their scheduling or if it's just them getting their sea legs...

Just curious why you think they fly faster? They could very well fly quicker depending what cost index they use vs WJ or AC, but on such a short leg it would be maybe a couple minutes quicker. The head or tailwind component would make more of a difference on any given day.

Most North American airlines plan 1 hour turns on a 738 while many European carriers plan 45 minute turns. Passenger loads and boarding doors play a big factor but my record is 26 minutes turning an all-economy 738

The pilot said they were able to make up time in the air, which as you point out didn't really make sense on such a short flight. Also this was on the YYC-YVR leg and would normally be into the prevailing winds.

Maybe I haven't been on many Max8's, but it 'felt' faster.

What is 'cost index'?

They could have made up time, by having time budgeted for a de ice they didn't use, or a short taxi time vs the average, maybe even some time budgeted for yvr's flow program which is worse than ever that they didn't need. All those minutes add up.

Cost index just takes all your costs for the flight and spits out the most efficient speed to fly. Say if the hourly maintenance rate was high, and fuel was cheap, you would fly quick or vise versa.

YYG increased to 4x weekly and season extended by a few weeks
YXY increased to 4x weekly
YZF also shows split mainline / encore. Has WS run mainline 737s there?
Interesting, with WestJet moving the Tokyo NRT Japan 3x weekly flights✈️ to depart at around 15:10 pm from Calgary YYC ,it will have a very similar departure time as KLM YYC - Amsterdam AMS.

This Spring/Summer 2023,the heavy Boeing WestJet / KLM planes to NRT / AMS will be departing 5 -10 minutes of each other during Sunday, Wednesday & Friday & both (might) use the same Runway for departure too.

It's rare & last this happened was when Hainan Airlines YYC - Beijing PEK 3x weekly flights operated, which departed around 15:10.

Wow 2 planes leave at a similar time.
That would only be exciting at an airport as small as mine lol.

There is nothing rare about 2 widebodies departing at the same time. The afternoons even have Eurowings Discover, and various AC domestic runs to YYZ/YUL.
