The q400 was designed to be a bridged airplane, one of the many features requested by the airlines. AC bridges their q400s at 10-14 in yyc. WS has to set up gates 35-39 due to tight space on D concourse. Once IFP opens and until B/C concourse closes for extensive renovations, WS will be able to bridge their Q400s if they so chose at least at 31-34 and probably further up into the high 20s gates if required.

From a YEG perspective, WS could bridge their Q400s at the north terminal rather than gate 49.

Alternately WS could not bridge the Q400 at all and implement a sky check program for larger carryon items.

Don't expect anything over the next 12 months. By 2015, AA will have pulled down enough MD80s that YYC will likely see the A319 or 738. I do not expect AA and US to crossfleet the hubs anytime soon. The one caveat is if there is an immediate need to get rid of the maddogs, then new US airbus narrowbodies could cross fleet at AA hubs.

After the IFP opening: until they close it for renovations, the B/C pier is pretty much a free-for-all with both AC and WS ops?

Found this old picture from probably ~1978 of WN's N26SW, later WS C-CWJU which was then donated to SAIT and sits in our hangar. We've done tons of work on this plane. Really cool finding this.

Once the IFP opens, AC has to find a spot for the express operations. wS had more than enough room with D concourse all to themselves.

Have they ever found all the electrical gremlins in her? I remember stories of her randomly shutting down on them when I went there. (AMET 2007)

Just a guess. The 2nd week they had this plane they went out of their way to route it to MCO, and also did that on the 19th... but that theory has gone out the window as she's been locked into YEG and YYZ for a while. 09:55 departure tomorrow morning is possible, but right now it's not looking good based on gates.

It's pushing off 42 right now going to SJD (10:15 am)

Still finding all kind of things on that plane. Mx guys wrecked one of the trailing edge flaps on the port wing last semester so it's permanently down and the line is capped. I didn't know it was a WN plane until yesterday. One of their first ones too.

Jazz plane knocked over a truck this morning. I'm guessing, based on it being the only flight with a big delay this morning, that it was Jazz 395 to Kelowna.

Cage, on OGG days (today) the 763 arriving from Hawaii at 6:30 am sits at YYC for 12+ hours before operating flight 850 to LHR. Why not send that 763 to YYZ as the 8 am flight which would free up one rotation for that A320? I assume it's because of crew scheduling or something because having a 763 sit here all day seems wasteful.

Hey you guys would know this: The A330 to EDDF today was one with Star Alliance livery. I don't recall seeing an A330 with that paint here. What's up with that??

It's here relatively often, AC's only got 8 A330's so when 850 and 844 are both 330's that's a 25% chance we see it. According to Flight Radar it's been stuck in a YVR-LHR-YYZ rut for a while, prior to today.

I don't remember seeing the Star Alliance 767 here, that tail might be one in the Caribbean config. I don't remember.

Here's what my dad said happened on AC546 YYC-LAS on Thursday. It was overbooked; this is not news... but he is a frequent traveler and said it was the most irate sequence of PA's he's ever heard from an AC agent.

So the first announcement was relatively mild, she somewhat nicely asked if there was a single volunteer who would be willing to give up their seat. No one offered. Next PA added the amount of retribution: $800 in travel vouchers and overnight accommodation. Still no offers. On her third PA, she said the reason they needed the seat was because a crew member (didn't say FA or pilot) needed to get down to LAS to operate a YUL flight. The PA's were becoming increasingly hostile, and on her fourth PA she said, "if nobody volunteers, WE ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE because this crew member needs to get to Las Vegas and I am not cancelling the Montreal flight." No offers. In her final PA, she says the person who last booked the flight would be bumped and re-accommodated. Finally a lady offered, he's unsure if she had to because she was last on the list, or if she volunteered. The lady was told her tentative routing the following day would be YYC-DEN-SFO-LAS. Flight was late as a result of these shenanigans.

I had a pretty rough one in Toronto when an A321 was substituted by an A319 and they had to bump 19 people.

It started out with asking for volunteers to connect via Vancouver and ended with threatening to breakup families or arriving at noon the next day via YYZ-YWG-YXE-YYC.

Nothing new, i flew it twice to FRA last Jan when it was stuck on the YYC outgoing loop. If i recall it returns to YUL from FRA and then returns to FRA from YUL before doing the YYC return. The YUL 330 does the return FRA to YYC flight. So when it is stuck in the loop it returns every other day. At least a few months ago it did.

So i guess one of the 787's will get the Star paint scheme done, especially when AC gets rid of the 330's. If i recall a certain percentage of the fleet needs to have the star paint scheme.

Yeesh! I wish that happened when I went to LAS at the beginning of December...I would have loved $800 in travel vouchers.
