I actually love it. Too many lowrises look the same - I really enjoy the sharp, clean form.

Yeah it's better then the typical stuff, could use more balconies IMO. Is this rental?

Does the same developer own the crummy strips on the north end of the block? I'd love to see the other half of the block redeveloped aswell.

Another article on West Broadway properties...

Vancouver’s West Broadway is in the midst of a ‘land rush’

^Article seems to confirm that Westbank owns the Safeway next to Commercial-Broadway Station. I'd never seen any confirmation before, but I've always just assumed they owned it since the very beginning of the Grandview-Woodlands planning process...

Anyways, I'm glad they own it. They should inevitably come up with something quite appropriate for the site which I'm looking forward to seeing.

EDIT - Also mentions that the MEC site on Broadway (owned by Reliance) will be a rental project.

I don't think they own it but are working with the owner (I believe Crombie REIT or somebody like that). Similar to safeway on davie and sewells marina in west van

It's Crombie REIT

Quote:
The GWCP raised the maximum height limit to 24 storeys for sites around the East Broadway and Commercial Drive SkyTrain station.

That includes Crombie REIT’s 2.4-acre property, which has a single-level Safeway grocery store and a large single-level parking lot.

Still good news that they will be behind the project.

csbvan posted the above pic on June 5th. The little building going up on the former site of Rumpus Room restaurant on Main Street continues to muddle along. For previous discussion and more info on this project, click on the link in my quoted post above.
