Hopefully with whatever happens on that site they don't demolish the heritage building.
.
Well that's one thing we can agree on. I'd like to see the heritage building integrated into a mixed use development similar to City Square Mall near Broadway but better executed with less retail and more office, apartment and condos. Having several mixed restaurant patios in that courtyard would be a great option.

I'm sure the city would love for this development to pay for a station but I don't forsee it happening. There are too many hands in that pot already and frankly I don't see the lift being high enough to pay for a station as well as the other requirements being bestowed onto the property by the city. Really think the city should've started collecting funds from all surrounding developments years ago instead of hoping for a windfall.

I agree. The City should have added a contribution of, say, $2 built square foot for every project within a 10-minute walking distance to pay for the station. Even if it meant waiting 10-15 years the money would have slowly built up and with additional contributions from the City, Translink, Province, Feds the station could be built.

I was interested to see that just the upper levels will be demolished and the podium will stay.

Ironically, I'd hazard that the podium retention is tied to continued use of the parking stalls within. Oh Vision....

The east wing was opened by Prince Philip who was quoted on the day as saying: "I declare this thing open -- whatever it is"

It says 1969 in the quote, when they opened the building.

We both attended Schule Schloss Salem in Germany and Gordonstoun in Scotland. Obviously not at the same time, but he attended many alumni meetings and other events at Gordonstoun.

That's similar to how the Jameson House curved projections are supported.

An update on the Cambie Star at Cambie and King Edward, built next to and over the King Edward Canada Line Station.

Or more than $2 per buildable square foot. Developments in Richmond-Capstan get charged around $8,000 per unit. Assuming 1,000 gross buildable per unit thats around $8 per square foot. Mind you in return developers get some added bonus density. But yes the city should have added a contribution for all Cambie Corridor projects (and not waste the bulk of CAC money on building social, affordable, under market housing).
