Why did Salt Lake make the decision when it's a State project?

Well hopefully they make tasteful material selections. We don't want this looking like it belongs in the suburbs.

Isn't it going to just look like a new high school with some fences and guard towers?
I think the cch will improve the skyline from the south more than any other vantage point. It will widen the city from the south and make it appear bigger than just what is on Main St.
True, it will also help with that view from up on Capitol Hill. I always kind of disliked that view. Even with the addition of 99 W., which helped, it's still kind of anemic. The CCH will help a lot.
Photo update on the 4th West Apartments. This area is exploding, I just heard about another project planned for 300-400 North on 500 West, it is by the same team that developed North Sixth.

Building permits are submitted for the Hardware Village development. No permits for the other project yet, but I was told they want to break ground in May. I have their contact info and will follow up with them.
Orlando, nothing has been submitted on the other project mentioned by asies1981, but I can absolutely say there is no way that they are breaking ground in May. The review process for a multifamily residential structure takes several months. I do like the GIV company and I think they have done great projects in SLC and in Ogden.
Also, the Hardware Village project does not have a building permit. They have a site permit which allows them to begin moving dirt but actual construction cannot commence at this time.

GIV Company may just be planning on a ceremony before actually starting construction, but hopefully that means that they will be applying for the permits soon. I like that they think outside of the box with their projects. I could've told you VOID was dead long before its second or third incarnation. No disrespect to the man whose idea this was, but ambitious developments like that, with literally no backing from any substantial developer/name/corporation, was never going to get off the ground.
Sorry for asking, but is the Void corporate center still happening?
I talked to someone today close to the project and they said they are actually working on Construction Docs for the VOID tower. Doesn't sound at all like it's dead, it's just a large project that takes time to design. These types of projects can take yrs from initial ideas to when ground is broken.
Have a little faith and remember that stuff like this takes time
