For anyone wondering, those are probably signage frames for the symphony. There is a strip of metal on the inside and it appears to be removable. I thought that was a vegetable garden at first.

How long did it take them to build this, like 1 1/2 years. It's ugly and poorly constructed. Anyone associated with this project should be ashamed of themselves.

A little dramatic response concerning this project, don't you think?

So what exactly are they considering? Are they proposing 22 stories instead of 20? And if this is approved, what's the timeline for groundbreaking? If I remember correctly,
the RDA had purchased the smaller two parcels on the north, or was it all three.

Anyway, someone holla please, this to me is the most exciting upcoming project, next to the CCH, more so than 151 or AUC.

Ditto to that bflat!

Luxurious Boutique Hotel Condo Tower Proposed For The New Regent Street

It was predicted by many that with the development of the spectacular multi-billion
dollar City Creek Center, exciting and diverse projects would soon spring
up throughout the Downtown District. A new world class Performing
Arts Center/Theater, 111 Tower and a revived Regent St. continue their
hectic construction schedule to the block immediately south of City Creek.
The excitement continues to build throughout Downtown as dozens of
large and small projects progress through their proposals and
beginning construction phases. Newly announced is this beautiful
boutique hotel tower, which is now accelerating through the approval
process.

It appears that they are already asking for a conditional design review approval from the city. It will be for the extra height. I will be sure to write the city and let them know that
I support the conditional design approval

The Regent Street boutique hotel looks like an Andaz by Hyatt, based on the exterior renderings, lobby, and rooftop pool.

We should have a forum meetup celebrating the demise of the Eat a Burger.

Unless one of us destroys it with arson first.

I've done worse.

Reed Avenue Flats - I thought this was a cool little project. I can't tell if it's a renew or new build. I don't remember it having been mentioned on the forum.

I've always liked that view of downtown, it's my favorite. The tree canopy giving way to the CBD looks really cool.

It would be awesome to take that shot on the rare day when the air isn't filthy. A view of the lake, the Oquirrhs and Antelope Island. Itmakes for some pretty sunset shots too.

I suggested to the Mayor's office to work toward placing the Hoberman Arch in that new plaza and make it an Olympic plaza.. It would've been steps from where the arch originally stood, and it's proximity to temple square and the mall would've also worked well. It didn't need to be super fancy, just a little dusting of Olympics for an otherwise boring corner. But I'm sure there are some kind of restrictions imposed by the IOC preventing it.. sigh.

And a little thing like not knowing what happened to the actual arch. I'm still wondering why they bothered to move it from RES in the first place, the south end zone expansion is still years away.

They did quite a bit of work on the stadium over the summer. They used where it used to be as a staging area or something like that. That might have something to do with it, or it just could have been that the original terms of the agreement expired.

In further Central Ninth news, on the east side of 200 West just north of the viaduct is a planned residential project. I'm not sure if it will end up as apartments or townhomes. I know they are looking at both concepts. Also on the east side of 200 West on the corner of Mead Ave and 200 West is a proposed 54 unit apartment structure. The project is moving forward fairly quickly.

The Regent Street Hotel is on the Planning Commission agenda tonight for design review because of their request for additional height at a mid block location. This is one of the first steps needed but do not assume this means that ground will be broken any time soon.
