Also, the Grand America is all neotraditional. So, terrible comparison.

And, there are many many examples of how to upgrade the base with a classy updated modern aesthetic that would be a much better match with the tower.

If you look closely you will see that they added another two floors. One is a separate mechanical floor, and the other is a roof top bar.

I'm just curious of where the bottom of the pool is going to go. There is only four feet between the deck and the penthouse below.

I just went inside to take a piss (in the restroom of course) and its beautiful. Anyways I think you can ask for a visitor badge from the front desk. Its definitely worth visiting some time.

I just walked in. East entrance is by as yet unopened cafe, sw entrance goes fairly directly into law library ... both presumably public spaces. Library not officially open but seemed partially in use and staffed.
Terrace is on Level 6, I think, and visible as you leave elevators. There were blueprints posted by elevators as if inhabitants were still learning layout and official signage not yet complete.

Fence around Abravanel Hall plaza came down today, just a week before beginning of 75th season of the Utah Symphony. Not sure if something goes in those picture frame type superstructures.

Even though we are still out a bit from knowing what will happen. It is nice to imagine what it will look like and the ultimate height for the CCH. Location is atleast somewhat known.

Only problem is, the Marriott is NOT 263 feet. I realize that is the height listed on Emporis, but the figure is way off. That would make the Marriott as tall as the Zion Bank (Kennecott) Building, which it plainly isn't.

As a long time Google Sketchup artist and using Google Earth, I would estimate Marriott is closer to 180 feet.

Based on hotels around the world, I would expect a 1200 room hotel in SLC to end up in the 350 - 400 foot range. A tall crown might make it the tallest, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Just keeping it real.

If you use Flickr for hosting images that are embedded you deserve to get AOL dial up placed upon you. It's good for hosting photography content but it always removes images and is otherwise awful. Use imgur.

This park/plaza is garbage. A great example of building something for its aerial view (which only those in 99 West will see) instead of its human function. Not a single one of those paths goes to the doors. How did this get approved?

Looks like a great place to skateboard. Soon enough you'll see the edges of the concrete darkened with curb wax and not long after that there will be chips in the concrete from grinding/sliding. I used to skate in downtown in the late 80's and early 90's and this is the kind of thing that we'd look for.

It took them how long to create these gorgeous concrete slabs? - said sarcastically. Why spend the time and money on something of such poor design? The plaza was better before. Oh how I love Utah's 30 year tear down mentality. Nothing built to last. Well, almost nothing. This new plaza was designed terribly with pathetic materials used. What are those big metal bars supposed to be for? Whoever designed and approved this should be sad at themselves. Lame.
