There's no left turn allowed headed south from Cambie on the constrained lanes. By limiting the street to two lanes north of Broadway, (but with an allowance for the few right turning vehicles), when the light turns green, the majority of the vehicles - those that are heading straight on up Cambie - can proceed easily without any need for lane changing or merging.
