Lesson hopefully learned for them for the next election after this one.
A lot of the ideas are pretty obvious and have been broadly discussed by various conservative proponents over the years. Things like no GST for FTHB were pushed by housing advocates. The Trudeau Liberals were ideologically opposed to certain ideas and that's what stopped them stealing these ideas. Carney has no such limitation.

By far and away, Angus Reid polled the most people- 4,000. On March 16, their results show a 5 point Liberal lead (42-37)

Selling oil is not a Conservative platform. We sell 30% more oil today than we did under Harper.
Noooo… what are you talking about. Harper didn’t choose anything. The private sector chose.

And it wasn’t $5 billion. More like $30 billion. That the private sector woulda paid if it hadn’t been for all the political interference. Remember that “every tool in toolbox” to block the pipeline. That sure did come back to bight the BC NDP, now that their taxpayers are on the hook.

ARI does have one of the larger online panels (I'm a part of it but haven't actually done a poll for them in years). They do tend to skew a little towards the CPC with a slight conservative house effect, but it isn't major in the same way that EKOS has problems. So when I see an ARI poll I tend to mentally tack on 1-2 extra points for the Liberals.

Polling more people if it isn't probabilistic doesn't add to the accuracy. Now online polls have proven themselves able to be as accurate given low response rates to IVR and traditional polls but you can't say their sample size is larger therefore more accurate.

Sure. I’ll accept that Harper didn’t build pipelines to the States, but he did nothing to get a pipeline to tidewater, which was the point of your misguided take.

Back to your post once again. It was $5 billion. Liberals bought a pipeline to make sure it got built despite massive political blowback because they knew the importance of reaching export markets. Your rant was 100% wrong.

Yes small L liberals are the reason we can't get anything built in this country but as several commentors have said a federal Conservative government isn't likely to be able to change that. The ideological aversion to anything government owned precludes things like buying trans mountain. Perhaps a Carney government will similarly build Northern Gateway as a federal project. Probably combined with some kind of tax on oil production dedicated to climate initiatives. A tax or some other charge on oil refiners and oil exports for example.

Poll workers could really cash in!

I unfortunately have to work on election day, but my employer said I could leave early… it’s a matter of who would want to come in early to cover me for that though.

Forget a tax funding climate change. I'd be happy if the oil sector was just forced to honour their cleanup obligations, particularly orphan wells. Right now, these liabilities are piling up at a horrific rate and it looks like taxpayers will be left holding the bag. Even the Trudeau government didn't touch that.

I think Carney's approach to climate policy is less tax and more investment and rebates. More rebates for heat pumps and EVs. Less taxes on gas. And given how a lot of tech is coming down in price, this might actually work. Even if it's not as economically efficient.

That is not necessarily true. I did work on that project in 2019, and it was Kinder Morgan, who overestimated the economic benefit of the project, and withdrew from it. There was initial opposition from BC, but that was toned down. Kinder Morgan did not want to provide much information in terms of spill clean up and prevention.

Kinder Morgan also did not bother to do much consulting, if any, with First Nations groups that owned land in the path of the pipeline. Just a typical greedy oil company wanting to push through a pipeline, without any kind of environmental oversight. When the return on the project was not as great as what KM told their shareholders, they got cold feet, and walked away from it, leaving the Federal Government to make sure it was completed.

I hope so. I'd like to see Poilievre lose and then the CPC have to go back to the drawing board and search for new leadership. Pierre can go back to carnival barker back bencher.

The factual history won't convince anyone who thinks the private sector would have just automagically built this, if it wasn't for Trudeau. They've absolutely convinced themselves.

I would like to see Poilievre campaign manager Jenni Byrne, and the rest of her Maple MAGA crew go 0-4 in elections.

This is the election issue:

Major furniture company shuts Canada plant, moves to U.S. factory

....
Canadian furniture company Prepac shut down its manufacturing facility in Delta, British Columbia, and has moved all production to its factory in North Carolina, according to the union representing the plant's workers.

Trump administration tariffs were identified as the reason for the move, according to Unifor, the union that represents Prepac's workers in Canada. The closing of the Delta manufacturing facility would reportedly result in the layoffs of over 170 workers.

Ok… I’ll believe that as fact for TMX… but what about Northen Gateway? What about Energy East? The first with Libs outright cancelling the application, the next made it impossible for any company to proceed.

TMX wouldn’t have even needed to be built if even 1 of the other two weren’t killed because of political interference.

This factual history won’t convince anyone who thinks the private sector wouldn’t have proceeded with these two major projects.

Yes this is a lot more popular. Only benefits and no pain. At some point something has to pay for it though. And if we aren't taxing carbon we will have to tax other more productive parts of our economy. But he's also waiving the capital gains tax increase. Probably larger deficits which have been a boom for US economic growth. He can probably keep an eye on the bond market and get the benefit of the doubt from said market as well but it's a dangerous game at some point it could come crashing down.

Id like to see another 4 years of Liberals destroying Canada because I believe virtue signaling is more important then actual policy.

I think doubling the industrial carbon tax will have NO EFFECT on the economy AT ALL and the fact that the individual carbon tax has been " reduced " not actually cancelled is great too. Id like to severely hurt the nation and have more crime and drugs and higher prices because .....

Oh I stand with Ukraine ( lol )

Conservative bad I guess

-Average Liberal

* feel free to loose your minds now, I know you want to.

Please defend the Liberal policy.
