This infill in Valleyview is going to get a lot of pushback by neighbors, and I bet it gets approved. 3 single family homes removed for a 6 storey apartment. I know I'd be pissed if this was beside me. Thought it was weird that they positioned it along Glenwood, instead of Oriole.

Would this be a concrete structure at 6 floors?

That totally makes sense why they did that. It feels like the city's planning department is butchering Aberdeen. They're putting multi-family higher density zoning just randomly everywhere. They know there's going to be a village centre built up there. Why not start creating that area first, and then go to random dead-end parcels after you've created a better vibe up there. Wished the tan color to the building was permanent, it would have complimented the surrounding landscapes more than completely grey and white building

There sure was. 8 storey office building in the dirt parking lot on Lansdowne street. I saw the plans a couple months before they were supposed to break ground. But then the anti-interior ndp got elected and they nixed the whole thing the first week in office. The building and site were shovel ready. The cool thing about that plan was the city was planning on buying the current BCLC building and amalgamating development, engineering, city hall all under 1 roof.

Probably for the best. I can’t imagine since Covid they have a whole lot of people in the office. Doesn’t make sense to spend a zillion dollars on a fancy office if no one‘s gonna use it.

Appeals dropped after unsuccessful court challenge; Build Kamloops projects moving ahead

City council says its Build Kamloops initiative is moving forward after the petitioner who launched an unsuccessful court challenge against last summer's alternative approval process decided not to appeal.

Kathrine Wunderlich filed a petition last fall seeking to overturn bylaws authorizing the city to borrow up to $275 million for a performing arts centre, arena multiplex and design work for future recreation projects.

In a statement Monday, Kamloops city council said Wunderlich is no longer appealing, and the city has likewise walked back its appeal “in the spirit of collaboration and in the interest of moving forward.”

“We know it’s been a long road, but the challenges are now behind us, and we’re ready to move forward,” said Coun. Mike O’Reilly, past Build Kamloops committee chair, in a statement.

“With construction hopefully beginning in 2025, we’re thrilled to finally bring these projects to life — for our artists, athletes, families, and the entire community.”

** Well looks like common sense prevails and she realized it's not financially worth it to have a legal battle with a city with multiple competent lawyers lol. **
