Thanks for the pictures.

Lots of activity above Canadian Tire in Dufferin. Any idea what's going on up there?

I believe it's called the Cascade detention pond.

Looks like we kept up the pace for population growth in 2024. This is 2020-2024.

Calgary numbers are nuts. 100k in a year.

Some pretty crazy population numbers for our CMA in Kamloops. I didn't realize we were growing that fast. Like 8 thousand people in the last few years.

I did some digging for what they have planned at 775 Columbia St. I had high hopes given the location, but the developer decided to cheap out and go with the worst architecture firm on the planet, Blue Green Looks like they couldn't have tried less on this one. Another copy & paste exercise. This shit hole firm has the ability to shape the city's environment since they design so many projects in this city; instead, they continue to design un-inspiring boxes with zero style, or architectural elements. They basically design Chinese commie blocks, but for Kamloops. Gee, lucky us. The only, and I mean only good thing about this building is that it gets rid of those 3 garbage motels that are a complete eyesore.

Some more info on the Notre Dame drive development where Bianca Amors is currently.

Here's the full report: https://kamloops.civicweb.net/document/1...?handle=8B0F647E270E41B08079A78CFA4D154A

I gotta say for it being designed by Station one instead of blue green for a change, it's a bit underwhelming

Wow! Would not expect something that bad from Station One. Looks like a building you'd see on the side of the hwy in Quesnel or Golden. Just terrible. I swear Kamloops has some of the worst developers in the game. 128 units and probably nothing for amenities. Maybe a treadmill and elliptical thrown in the basement.

On a positive note this one is proposed for the North Shore, and it's designed by blue green. I think the odd shaped lot forced them to design something unique, instead of a copy/paste exercise that they usually do. Great use of a small lot!

They have butchered Orchards Walk with those buildings. This copy/paste style development shouldn't be allowed. City planning department really showing how useless they are.

Valley view project gets the go ahead, but it looks like the same old pricks are going to be suing the city over the project again. This will be a 6 floor project, built next to a high school, next to the new Mass transit exchange and a shopping area that is desperate for rejuvenation. Great plan NIMBYS.

Biggest Jack ass in town " The Mayor " voted against it.

I thought the proponent made a good point during the council hearing by saying there's about 9 feet difference between a 4 storey building with a sloped roof, and a 6 storey building with a flat roof. The extra number of units makes it worth the extra 2 stories imo. I think the location is pretty good for this building. It's definitely not some quite residential neighbourhood that they're trying to portray. These NIMBY's that don't get their way and sue the city are the worst. Seems like a trend in this town at the moment.

The trend being suggested by our mayor I'm going to bet. He seems to be on the side of everyone of these groups. My suggestion, is make the lawsuits responsible for counter court costs. Launching a ridiculous suit like this and losing, then it costing YOU $7,000.00 may stop some of these dumb ass's from going ahead .

Sure is, the second tower just got under way now ( think its on third floor ). It will be the crown jewel for the city for sure ! But like most jewels, once you get a few you'll always want more.

Well, it is a great place to live but things are not as great as they COULD be. A lot of stress on the economy and job numbers arent that great. However Kamloops is experiencing a mini building boom it would appear. I feel that's more out of necessity then speculation.

GREAT PIC VALID
