Our 2020 trip to India continued south through Goa and brought us to Mysore, the former capital city of the Mysore Kingdom until 1956. Today it is known for its magnificent palace, one of India’s top tourist sites. It is also a popular spot for yoga classes. Compared to northern India’s big cities, it has more greenery and feels much more airy and colorful. The food is also different, in my opinion not as good as in the north or in Tamil Nadu.
Photos are taken in the older part of town around the main market and the palace, in the Gokulam area and also in the nearby village of Srirangapatna

Daria Daulat Bagh summer residence, famous for it’s wall paintings. It’s also the only place I’ve seen in India that bans taking selfies! One may take as many photographs as they like, as long as you’re not in the photo! Domestic tourists were puzzled!!
Beautiful pictures. I love the street life and the variety of architecture.
About 20 years ago, there was a Indian restaurant in Minneapolis called the Mysore Cafe. I recall the owner named it after the city they were from. I love Indian food, but have to say the name didn’t translate well and, sadly, the business didn’t last long.

I love Indian food too, and it's funny, the only time I've encountered the word "Mysore" is when I go to a southern Indian restaurant that serves dosa and sometimes on the menu I'll see "Mysore Masala Dosa." It's nice to finally think of an actual place when I see "Mysore" instead of just thinking of a kind of dosa.

Spectacular. My thoughts are with India right now and I look forward to visiting at some point in the relative near future.
