This time last year I was all set to go to The University of Alabama to study advertising, setting my life on a path I did not want to follow. I got my parents to let me take a semester off to decide what I really wanted to do with my life. During that time I kept reading about Portland, OR in magazines and since I was a child I have always felt drawn to the Northwest. I decided to apply to PSU to study architecture, which is what I really wanted to study in the first place. I thought it would be a bad idea to go out there without seeing it first so I managed to convince my dad to go to Portland despite him being totally against the idea of me going to there. To this day I still don't know how I was able to convince him to let me go that far from home, but I am very thankful that I will finally be leaving Florida and its two seasons of hot and hotter.
I took these on my trip to Portland in November 2008. I really enjoyed Portland and the cold weather was a pleasant change from the hot rain in Florida. I hope the pictures are good since it was raining and my camera was cracked in half the entire time. I will be buying a new one before I move.
Nice photos! I must say I'm a little jealous that you get to enjoy the Pac NW for the next few years. I think it would be a sweet place to live. Good luck with school.
Enjoy studying architecture at PSU. I love the South Park Blocks...great asset for a downtown school environment wise. How did your Dad enjoy the trip?
