Both Richmond and Station Square have nearby T&Ts.
Lougheed has the nearby H-Mart.

Are they trying for Asian "nodes" co-locating?
(versus Brentwood area which doesn't have a nearby Asian grocer, does it? but where to?)
Would they be better off converting the Main & 13th Save-on-Foods to a PriceSmart?
They changed the King Edward Village store to Save-on-Foods.

Location is the real problem, the Pricemart in Richmond is on the south of Lansdowne while most of the Asian malls along the No.3 Road are much north from it.

The one in Station Square is in another extreme. Yes, it was located between Metrotown and Crystal Mall, but both malls have its own market(s) in it, why would I still have the need to visit another supermarket when I can do all the grocery in one mall.

The one in Lougheed would be ok since both H-Mart and Hannam are more Korean while Pricemart is more Chinese. When I was in Lougheed six years ago, whenever I need some Chinese grocery goods, it's either Metrotown or Coquitlam, Wal-Mart/Save-on would be my last minute rush, H-Mart and Hannam, however, were not on my checklist.

Besides, Lougheed was actually much competitive before Sobeys decided to fold the Saveway in Lougheed while Extra Foods was still standing on the other side of North Road.

We actually shopped at PriceSmart quite a bit when we lived in Metrotown. It carries most of the things Save-On does, but they are in different locations. Once you get used to the layout it is very easy to find pasta, bread flour, chips, and all the "non-Asian" things you could need.

The produce and meat sections also had much better selection that Save-On, especially for seafood. I found those sections to typically be pretty busy (maybe we shop on different days at different times) but I imagine demand will increase even more as the residential buildings fill up.

Man, Vancouver is such a scam these days, it is mind-boggling how people keep buying into the Ponzi scheme.
I'm sure the 80% thing is intentional hyperbole, but it is still possible to live comfortably in Vancouver with two incomes. Neither me nor my wife earns more than $70k per year, but we still manage to rent a two-bedroom in the West End. We spend a little over one-third of our income on rent and we are not in a basement suite and have plenty of sunlight.

It does get quite a bit more difficult for single parents, or people with unstable employment, but isn't that true for every city?

And if you look at average rents of the West End and Metrotown, the West End is typically about $500 per month more for a two bedroom. But since our move we save about $300 on transportation costs per month because we cancelled our transit passes and spend way less on gas. And that $200 difference is well worth trading Central Park for Stanley Park, or being able to walk to the beach.

Anybody done their walkthrough for TCOL 1 or 2? I've got hairline cracks in the concrete ceilings inside and outside the unit. Wondering if anybody's got the same thing and whether the developer's fixing them?

With T&T and PriceSmart coming, I wonder if the Lougheed area can support 4 Asian grocers. I suspect T&T / PriceSmart will take away a sizable portion of the Chinese population who previously had no other choice but to go to Hmart/Hannaram. Hopefully the competition can help drive down prices.

is this the project meant to have the tallest tower in all of western canada? i think it is. i just want to confirm.

shame it can't hit super tall status, that would be cool. it would need another 134ft to get it though.

Pinnacle Lougheed Western Canada Tallest Tower

That's a separate project from City of Lougheed.

the tallest tower has its lighting feature on tonight and it's visible from quite far away, you can see it while crossing Port Mann. 3 of the 4 buildings have their lighting on now.

Also today i noticed there is something going on in the parking lot at their old presentation centre. They are adding parking stall-type spots to it, not sure why or what they are really called.

People on Reddit were complaining of it being super bright. Some kind of burn-in test, I suspect?

Yep, burn in test. No way it is that bright permanently.

its no different than the first one that went on. I suppose if you live within the towers it might be bright but a block away its not bad.

I wouldn't say it looks dated but they are proposing three identical looking towers with very similar heights. That's the real problem, as none of them will be unique or landmark quality.
