Several routes like JFK, IAH, PDX all get sizeable increases to 4-5x weekly. LAX gets a second flight on Thu / Sun.

From mid-December WS will run daily flights to LAX, PSP, PHX, LAS, ATL, OGG, HNL, CUN, PVR, SJD.

During the Christmas rush, it looks like LGW goes up to 4x weekly but mostly is planned 2x weekly.

All of this is of course subject to change.

They are loaded and bookable. They barely update the 'direct flights' page nowadays. I don't utilize that page anymore.

I should note that many of the increases I laid out are mostly during the Christmas/Winter break period. In January, they get reduced back.

Even then there looks to be a lot of recovery on almost every route. Seems like there could be a return to normal by May?

November looks to be YYC's busiest month in terms of International/Transborder service since March 2020 with flights to 20 US Destinations, 8 in Mexico, 4 in the Caribbean/Central America and 4 in Europe. I think there's non-stops to a total of 9 countries.

Alaska Airlines returns with once daily service starting Nov. 4. (Same day WS launches its own SEA flights).

WS starts 789 service to CUN, PVR & OGG as it winds down TATL to CDG & AMS. Also WS effectively restores service to all pre-COVID Mexican destinations.

If they got them, why wouldn’t they use them? Aren’t they paying for them? What would they do with them if they don’t use them? Lease them to another carrier? Is that allowed? If they don’t use them again do they stand a chance of never getting them again (ie: use ‘em or lose ‘em)?

These are just temporary slots. They also got the same slots last winter, and over the summer and opted not to use them. Also using them doesn't guarantee they get to keep them.

I believe they are holding off launching LHR service until they get something more permanent.

WestJet started up the new Calgary Canada- Seattle US flight ✈️ route today November 4 and in the article it mention WestJet 1st flight to had a total of 69 passengers to Seattle on WS3612.

Which on a Q, which is the aircraft used on this flight, means it’s almost a full flight! I hope the momentum continues and they eventually put a jet on this route!

It would be lovely to have a 737/8 or maybe a 7M8 on this route but they'll probably add a second Dash 8 for the European bank in the winter.

WS also started SNA today as well, which based on the seat map looked about 75-80% full.

Was also nice to see AC back on LAS as well.

Yes, in the Global Calgary news article about Calgary (YYC) - Seattle flights ✈️ starting up & it mentions WestJet will re-evaluate *if* there is demand or need for 737 or 737 Max to operate eventually at point, like -possibly during Summer 2022. Will see.

“The route is currently being served by a 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400, but WestJet said it will re-evaluate the route based on demand to find out whether it would be better served by the larger Boeing 737 or 737 MAX”.

Yes. On Sundays it's YXY-YEG-YYC-YXY and every other day it's YXY-YYC-YEG-YXY

I did not expect to ever see AC launch this route, but glad to see it. Set to run 4x weekly beginning May 21.

WS currently has YQB scheduled up to 4x weekly from late June. Be interesting to see if that moves up to May now.

WS has now scheduled YQB from May 21, initially 5x weekly then increasing to daily from June 23-September, before dipping back to 4x weekly into October.
