Is there something better for visiting folks at the airport I'm not aware of?

There’s an economy lot on the north side of the terminal that’s cheaper — but not really suitable for short term stays (and it’s not at all convenient).
YYC used to have a free parking grace period for visitors, shoppers and diners a few years ago where short-term parking is now (on the ground level). They took that away, and replaced it with the cellphone lot — which is often overflowing.
The best option, if you’re dining at the Marriott, is to use the hotel’s valet parking service. If you’re eating there, they’re often flexible in what they charge (sometimes they’ll even do it for free depending on the situation — provided you are spending money there). I’ve always had really great, friendly service at the Marriott.
