Nice to see AC still fighting for the YYC market as they could have easily left BOS for WS to serve. It is interesting that this is being flown with an A319 rather than an A220.

What do you guys make of the timing of this flight? Is it for connections on the YYC side? The timing doesn't line up with typical US leisure/tourist routes out of Calgary and I can't imagine any connections on the BOS side.

For comparison, YVR-BOS seems better timed for O/D

AC533 BOS 1805 - 2123 YVR

Never mind, I read the AC press release. Makes sense. Allows for connections to BC, AB and Sask. Good compliment to the YVR offering.

I was expecting BOS with the A223 but they still have a few A319s that will remain in the fleet. I agree, nice to see some investment from AC. Nothing to say WS won't duplicate the route once though as Delta has a hub at BOS.

YVR-BOS-YVR is timed to connect with SYD, BNE and MEL.

Thats great news! I fly regularly between YHZ and YYC so maybe I'll give that connection a try, because why not.

Thinking we will see IAD on the A220 also?

NRT arrives at 1105 the BOS flight departs at 1615. A 5+ hour connection is not timed well.

I think they wanted to get on this route ASAP even though it was earmarked for an A220. Perhaps it will convert to one when more come available.

It's timed virtual the same as EWR as well as the evening runs to LAX, SFO and IAH and all of those had a ton of connections from NRT this past summer.

Even though BOS-YYC-NRT is doable, YYZ and YUL are much better placed to catch BOS-NRT/HND traffic.

Ex. Total trip time via YUL is almost 3 hours less westbound (4.5 hours eastbound), with a much more appealing departure/arrival time at BOS.

You won’t be seeing many NRT-YYC-BOS connections.

He’s probably going to book the flights separately. But he needs to overnight in BOS.

Also, as a side note, they are allowed to sell a Canada-US-Canada ticket. They can’t sell a US-Canada-US ticket. Ex: LAX-YUL-BOS. That would be cabotage and is illegal.

Part of the flight timing is due to gate constraints. AC can only handle 3 aircraft and there is no ability to have remote stands, even for remain over night aircraft.

The AC flight arrives into BOS after the last YOW aircraft and departs the next morning before YOW aircraft returns.

AC's three gates have 1 gate for YYZ, 2nd gate for YUL/YOW, third gate for YOW/YYC/YVR.

AC loaded long-haul changes for Feb.

LHR - Will operated on odd mix of 789/77W & even 763. The 767 seems to operate most of the month though.
FRA - Several flights seemed to have been removed, but still operated by 77W.

On Feb 14 & 15 both flights will be operated by on a 777.
