From what I have seen, a substantial part of (East) Berlin is made up of commies blocks. But no, it doesn't really look like this.

Just realized that Vancouver is the only major city on this forum where no one has ever defended a skyline photo with "oh, that's the bad angle", "missing half the skyline", etc

There, unflattering angle missing a huge chunk of the skyline.

Vancouver's skyline isn't the biggest or the tallest, but it's perhaps the most balanced. The multiple pinnacle effect is awesome.

That is not a great area on street level. The foreground is ok - it's Gastown, a faux Victorian tourist trap that was set up in the 70s, and the background is marketing itself as "Crosstown," which is just condo after condo with more homeless and addicts and less restaurants and retail than the western side of the downtown peninsula. Eventually it should be nice - maybe after they knock down the viaducts - but not yet. And of course beyond that and to the left is the infamous downtown east side. These areas suffer from being a commuting route for hundreds of thousands of people living east of downtown due to the lack of highways in the city, and of course being a homeless/addict dumping ground for the whole country. Much of the street life is like this:

That Block by Ruby Huang, on Flickr

Main street to the east and south has leapfrogged this area in the gradual improvement of the east side. And there's a good reason why Vancouver likes glass - it's the only thing that doesn't disintegrate in the rain and get covered in moss and pigeon shit. Other materials look terrible after 20 years.

The photo you quoted is the best shot of Vancouver I've ever seen, but since you insist on inviting a comparison, I personally think Vancouver's is the only major skyline in the country that only has a couple of impressive angles, since it looks like a flat green glass blob from most sides. But hey, that's just like my opinion man.

lol predictable

Also, the people who always say "that's the bad angle" of their city's skyline pics, are usually the same ones who say of other cities' skyline pics "that's the best angle yet!"

It takes a special kind of insecurity to (i) essentially boast about one's city objectively having the best skyline (which I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone on this forum do); then (ii) attack others for pointing out that - horror of all horrors - it's not also their favourite skyline.

Predictable? You practically begged for it. If manufacturing this kind of narrative helps you sleep, have at it hoss... I really couldn't care less.

I think Vancouver's only real bad angle is from the south, which is a shame since it's the one where you can see the mountains.

Strangely enough, Calgary's worst skyline angle is from the east (which is also the view where you can see the mountains.)

Hamilton looks alright from the North, and that lets you see the 'Mountain'.

Then there's always that money shot..The most flattering angle that the same person will post Ad nauseam every other week, or when another city gets too much attention for their liking.

If you're talking just skyline and not natural surrounding, Vancouver's strongest angle is with the office towers at the forefront. There it has the most variety, and the some of the best architecture. And the Canada Place building gives it an "iconic" look.

Almost every other angle on the other hand...

You are incorrect. I've seen "oh, that's the bad angle" quite a few times actually.
