It is so bizarre when you think about how different the climate is from the valley bottom to the top of the plateau above.

Thanks for posting!

Kelowna may have 3 highrises u/c at the same time by the end of this year (these are relatively solid prospects compared to many other proposals that have been made in Kelowna)

That Vancouver shot does look as if Tokyo or Sao Paulo moved to Canada.

^^^ It's too bad that Kelowna didn't get a proper suspension bridge crossing Okanagan Lake.

I actually like the floating bridge in Kelowna. Helps give it more of that warm city look / feel IMO. I took several of my Japanese friends to Kelowna mid summer a few years ago, and upon driving on the floating bridge they said it reminded them of Okinawa. Funny comparison I know, but still made me happy (For the record there are many floating bridges in Okinawa).

Amazing pictures of Vancouver in that last post. I really love the first one, so urban with a fabulous mix of architectural "textures". It goes against the cliche of a sterile glassy Vancouver. How's that old neighbourhood at street level? It looks like a part of town I would want t o explore.

I don't think most people would associate a floating bridge with warmer climates though. Perhaps your anecdote with your Japanese friends made you see it that way, but what if your friends were Finnish and they had seen similar bridges somewhere in their country instead? (Unless it is not possible to build such bridges in colder climates, but I suppose this lake in Kelowna freezes over every once in a while in the winter?)

Density, yeah... But it could pass for a suburb of East Berlin. Two or three glass towers in this part of the city wouldn't hurt. (thank god Manulife will be one of them)

Manulife won't appear in that shot nor that part of the city. That's the Atwater skyline.

Oops, you are right. At first I thought it was this part of the skyline, but I also thought that the relatively recent black building on the right was Louis Bohème so it got me a little confused. (now I see it is the Seville)

Berlin does not have that kind of density, Berlin is flat with buildings between 5-8 floors each with the exception of a few areas.

Thanks to the telephoto flattening effect, La Catherine (15 floors), S sur le square (14 floors), O'Nessy (is it 15 floors x 2 or 20 floors or what?) and the new proposal on the site of the burned-down church (19 floors x 2) will all be visible from this angle. That's 14-20 floor 6 towers. Not bad at all.
