Yes clearing Granville of its fabulous neon heritage was one of the worst decisions the City ever made.
There is a big difference though between a big glowing VOGUE sign and a big TV cycling advertisements.
I hope the city doesn't rush through this decision. One of the points that CityHallWatch makes is actually quite relevant: The Councillors just unanimously voted to have the city develop an outdoor lighting strategy for future development. It wouldn't make any sense to approve this before City staff has time to present a plan to Council.
Edit: From what I've read it seems like there's still conflicting info out there about whether or not there is any possibility of ads. It'd be nice to hear some clarity on this.
