  • Winnipeg Street Overpass with an estimated total project cost of $28 million
  • Regina Revitalization Initiative – Railyard Renewal with estimated total project costs of $67 million
  • Septage Receiving Station with an estimated total project costs of $10 million
  • Ring Road Victoria Ave overpass with an estimated total project costs of $10 million
  • Buffalo Pound Water Upgrades with an estimated total project costs of $36 million.
  • Albert and Saskatchewan Drive Intersection improvement with an estimated total project costs of $7.5 million.

I wonder if the Winnipeg Street overpass is the re-alignment of the bridge to go North South instead of slightly screwed towards the refinery, I can only image that is what it would be at $28M

Winnipeg Street Bridge Project
The project involves realigning Winnipeg Street without any jogs which will require a
longer overpass and include improvements to the existing interchange that will support
new residential, commercial and industrial developments, future additional driving lanes
on the Ring Road and the potential for future grade separations at the existing at-grade
railway crossings to the east.
The physical work includes construction of a new overpass, modifications and
realignment of the existing ramps, demolition of the current overpass, relocation of
utilities, various intersection improvements, new traffic signals and all associated works.

Timeline

– 2015-17 Design, 2017 Construction

Estimated Cost

– $28 million. Funds have been identified in the 5-year capital plan.

National/Regional Benefit

– the project would improve traffic and help to service

They really need to do something about moving the tracks off the Ring Road. On Boxing day, I was heading north with my family over to some friends, when we got stuck because of a train. The train stopped on the tracks with the back end of the train at the edge of the ramp. We were stranded for 20 minutes waiting for this train to move. I think they should be asking for a lot more to re-align those two sets of tracks across the Ring Road.

Given the time horizon for some of these projects (out to 2020 construction) I'm a bit surprised that widening of Sask Drive (broad to winnipeg) and/or Arcola Ave (winnipeg to Vic) isn't part of the plan. Or are there specific criteria that have to be hit to be elligible for NBCF?

I would just be happy if they would clear the snow banks from the curb lane on SK Dr. so there were actually 2 lanes in winter. Victoria between Broad and Wpg is the same.

I see snow removal equipment driving around doing useless touch-ups all the time but they are oblivious to the real issue/hazards.

I would agree that this is probably a higher priority, but I think the issue with the Winnipeg St., overpass is that is due for a major scheduled rebuild anyway, so they figure they may as well do it right.

Train traffic has really increased in the last few years. It will probably take a fatal accident to get movement on a grade separation.

I am surprised it hasn't happened for a long time. There have been accidents there in recent years but no fatalities for as long as I can remember.

For those of you who are not sure that would work just go drive on Circle Drive South in Saskatoon between Valley Road and Clancy Drive under 11th Street. It is the EXACT same type of construction using MSE (Mechanically Stabilized Earth) retaining walls and Cast-In-Place concrete (even dealing with rail tracks)

It sounds doable, but could be very expensive and disruptive to the Ring Road during construction. What about sharing the existing grade separation at Winnipeg St.? The tracks could be re-routed along Winnipeg St. N. and reconnect with the CN Qu'Appelle and Lanigan Subs.

Question more for the Saskatoon thread. But is Clancy Drive just to the north still at grade intersection with Circle Drive? Seems odd, they spent so much moola to make the rest of Circle Drive in that area free flow (which looks awesome by the way), but left Clancy at grade.

It's free flow northbound (no through traffic on Clancy) but there are lights southbound to allow turns.

Just need a single flyover for the southbound lanes. Something similar to this flyover, but straighter and much shorter. Are there any plans for that?

Doubt it. They use the same type of intersection at Laurier Drive and at Airport Road.

No you are thinking of the Wpg St. Underpass. It is about 100 years old.

A friend of a friend hit a train and died there in the early 2000's, but since then, I don't recall any other fatalities.

Also a blow to big box developments Horizons at Westerra and Aurora that were no doubt hoping to have a shot at Target as an anchor.
