The bridges are unsafe. End of story. City engineers agree. Provincial engineers agree. The higher ups at Highways pressured the city to re-open them by declaring them "safe" against all evidence. So they did.

They're pretty much operating on a hope and a prayer.

This story made me spit my beer across the room last night - Capital Pointe is almost ready... for the umpteenth time...

I was disappointed that CTV didn't do a retrospective of all of the times over the past 5 years (YQRcc approved this in Sept 2009) that the developer has declared the project "ready to go," "on schedule," "shovel-ready," or "just waiting on [City/SaskPower/other public body] approval."

I did like how they pointed out that two downtown condo projects announced in the same timeframe have not only started, but the owners are actually moving in right now.

It's also kind of bad timing for them if they go ahead as the condo market is getting a little bit oversupplied. There are 400+ condos on the market right now in Regina.

Sure there are 400+ condos on the market but how many have full hotel amenities? I dont think it will be much of an issue selling more once construction commences. They already have enough sold to begin now. Where they messed up big time was telling people that they will begin on this day, time, etc etc.

I think the downtown condo market and the outlying area condo markets are also a little detached from each other. The recent downtown projects definitely hurt Capital Pointe a bit, but the condos way in the north and way in the east, probably much less so and this is where the majority of availability is.

I'm just talking about new/recent builds because in new vs old competition, new generally wins (not counting special properties like heritage or warehouse lofts)

Kind of late, his damage is done. Well, not just his, but the entire department. So many dumb decisions over the years.

I'd say that another location in NW or SW Regina would be the solution.

I doubt they have any plans to replace this store any time soon. They just spent a lot of money installing dozens of skylights.

Fargo-Moorhead has 3 wholesale warehouse stores, a Costco and two Sams Clubs, and with Regina and Saskatoon booming and both larger than Fargo I don't know why both don't already have two Costco stores each.

That intersection gets backed up constantly. With traffic from people leaving Costco merging with oncoming traffic, it becomes a nightmare.

Not likely. The bypass will take care of most of the semi truck traffic that causes most of the back ups
