The crane pictured above is not a tower crane. It is a mobile crane that usually has a folding jib and either a telescopic or folding tower. The counterweight/ballast is located at the bottom of the crane. Different type of crane than what the original topic was about.
As for Capital Pointe, even if construction does commence this year I would highly doubt that there would be a crane until next year.

There will be six tower cranes in Regina by this Fall.

CP would have only one crane; it has too small of a footprint.

There are pilings going in at the former Co-op gas bar site on Vic and Arcola. there is also a "For Lease" sign. Does anyone have any details?

I noticed yesterday the South Albert Petro Canada has now shut down, following in the footsteps of the Southland Shell (Turbo).

Between Can Tire and the Petro being boarded up, that west service road is sure a dead zone at the moment. They're lucky the Conexus and Dollarama are pulling people in there still.

Noticed that they've got heavy equipment tearing up the (former) Southland Mall Turbo/Shell. I assumed it would sit as a brownfield site. I assume if they're remediating the site so quickly, there's likely something better than more parking going there - any rumours floating about?

For the life of me, I can't think of the plot (at least not one where a Co-op was). Is it the same spot as where the little Credit Union branch was?

Pretty sure this was a Co-op. The ATM was added later. The building has since been demolished

An A&W sits there now pretty much. Im not sure what you could fit in that small location. I always thought the city should by those 4 corner lots (A&W, fire hall/strip mall, Kleins/strip mall, and Robbins doughnuts) and set a side land for a compacted interchange similar to the ones on yellow head in Edmonton. That intersection can get so backed up and it is one of the worst bottle necks around

Isn't the city planning on rerouting Arcola/Sask Dr and re-aligning the intersection anyway in about 10-15 years?

Hey!!! This is the City of Regina. There will be no reason or logic allowed here, mister!! If we start planning now it will simply create "expectations" down the road. And we all know "expectations" in Regina inevitably lead to disappointment. And there will be no disappointment in Regina.

It looks like the City now owns this building at 760 Arcola and it is being demolished as we speak. Perhaps for future street widening?

The only building standing in the way of widening between Winnipeg and Vic is this one:

I am not aware that the City owns it, but they might. They did buy the former Fas Gas next store I believe. The City has a storage building further east by the auction place, but they own that obviously.

It would be nice to have left turning lanes NW bound on that stretch.
