Could not decide whether to put this article into YYC Airport forum or Public Transit forum. Decided the Policy Wonk vs the world bun fight would cause the Public Transit enthusiasts heads to explode.

Basic run down is that YYZ is getting a a downtown to airport express rail service. The airport authority has mandated that each rail ticket include $1.85 charge in lieu of parking revenue (cover lost parking revenue). The transit geeks are furious.
My thoughts are in agreement with the GTAA. There is a surcharge for taxi fares leaving the airport so a same fee should apply to the rail link. $1.85 is less than $4 taxi charge. Ultimately the airport is not funding the rail link and if the rail link wants to come to the airport, they should be prepared to pay fair charges.
Getting into this with the YYC instance. The YYC airport should consider public transit pax the same as others and surcharge accordingly.
I know I am going to get burned in effigy for this post.
