Did anybody post that Global banner up in the Canada thread?? Boy that too would be an encore session!!

Overall great success to YYC for taking no3. spot. It's not like the first time it surpassed Montreal. It's more like reclaiming what was stolen from us lol..
Although I do envy YUL's international sectors, they are getting some nice new services this year starting with Qatar, unless that already started.

I'd like to see the Business traffic and aircargo to increase some more and of course YYC becoming a military hub once or twice a year for the RAF. Bring back the Tornadoes!

Some avgeek cool stuff, WestJet's Thomas Cook 757 made the flight from Maui (OGG) back to YYC yesterday in 5 hours and 11 minutes, riding some serious Pineapple Express tailwinds.

Hasn't Qatar being operating to YUL for a few years now?

I think Qatar started YUL last year.

Oops my bad. I did not mean Qatar but actually Turkish Airlines who will be starting YUL this summer to add to their list of impressive international gateways.

Is Calgary really considered "isolated" by most? I guess the concept of driving 3-6 hours to get to a destination is foreign to some.

That concept is actually and quite apparently lost on some people. Folks out east are the first to say that in the prairies your "dog can run away on Monday and you can still see him running away on Friday", bemusing how flat and uncharacteristic the landscape is, and then turn around and assume that driving to Great Falls or Kalispell from Calgary would be an earth-shattering, marathon drive. It's hardly Montreal to Toronto driving time... Perhaps they aren't aware of how tons of people in these parts drive 12 hours in a day without batting an eyelash, for the very same reason the "dog" joke has some truth to it. We're accustomed to straight, long distances to get anywhere. Edmonton to Kelowna, for example, is easily done in a day (with kids, no less), though that's not really all that "straight" a drive.

we are the unique ones. Driving from Toronto for 3-6 hours doesn't get you to just to an Edmonton or a few Lethbridges. It gets you to a Montreal, Detroit, Ottawa, Buffalo, Cleveland, Pittsburgh etc. It gets you to 100s of Lethbridge sized cities within 6 hours. Most of the US is the same other than some of the mountain west, and Europe is obviously even more connected.

While I never feel isolated here, much of the rest of the world certainly is less so geographically. the perception is accurate from a relative perspective.

I am in MEX currently along with representatives from several other Mexican airports.

The main problem at the moment is metal for "most" Mexican carriers.

Volaris is however adding additional leases to it's Airbus fleet to allow for expansion.

Stay tuned. With visa restrictions lifted you should see some new additions.
