we are the unique ones. Driving from Toronto for 3-6 hours doesn't get you to just to an Edmonton or a few Lethbridges. It gets you to a Montreal, Detroit, Ottawa, Buffalo, Cleveland, Pittsburgh etc. It gets you to 100s of Lethbridge sized cities within 6 hours. Most of the US is the same other than some of the mountain west, and Europe is obviously even more connected.
While I never feel isolated here, much of the rest of the world certainly is less so geographically. the perception is accurate from a relative perspective.
