The lines for the advanced poles at City Hall were crazy and the lines to vote have been equally busy!

As much as this is an important day, I can't wait for it to be over and all these signs to be removed. It's an eyesore driving past seven signs in a row saying the same thing.

Aside from all the smart ideas that has has published, Nenshi as mayor would go a long way to helping get rid of the 'redneck' image. Any time I hear some idiot remark about Calgary being a 'redneck' city, I could say, 'hey, take a look at our mayor and kindly shut the f_ck up!'

One thing that I'm not sure was mentioned, is that although the Herald endorsed McIver, they did state that they'd be ok with a Nenshi win, as well as the 'dissenting' editorial that was pro-Nenshi, so all and all he did pretty well with the endorsements.

Dan Arnold: Calgary decides whether to go for the makeover
http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2010...-decides-whether-to-go-for-the-makeover/

love this quote

"Calgarians have close to a dozen legitimate candidates for mayor to choose from. And Oscar Fech!"

Haha

Well I think to sum up my feelings today.
1) I really hope Nenshi wins
2) I really hope Higgins loses.

More than ever I think Nenshi is going to win this.

I'm meeting more people who say they're going to vote for him than not. My boss, who last week as McIver all the way has switched. A good friend of mine, who has never voted in her life, voted for Nenshi today. Not only that, but she's convinced 5 of her friends to switch their vote to Nenshi as well.

I have friends in Edmonton emailing me, saying they wished that Nenshi was running for mayor there, and that they're looking forward to seeing him aspire to higher levels of government.

Naheed Nenshi just crossed the 10,000 supporter threshold on Facebook.

Wow! Lets hope it translates into real action/votes. So far the buzz is good.

I would have thought that Shaw TV would have a live stream of that channel online. Not just for the election, but for everything. It seems like a TV and internet provider would/should stream their TV channel online...

Looks like those "Know Nenshi" flyers are being sent around Bridgeland now. I was at Tazza and noticed one in one of those free magazine boxes. So I took it out. I should it to Yousef at Tazza and he said that he got one in his mailbox.

There was another message on the other side saying something about the LRT being improved.
Thank you kindly - reported to 311 for removal

p.s. they've received many calls about these - not only for this station.

Most of my friends are Christian, conservative types of people. Every one of them that I've talked to was either going to vote for Nenshi, or was leaning that way. I've helped a few of them make their decision.

To say that simply, I don't know ANYONE personally that I know is voting for someone else.

I have a feeling that this election might not be as close as advertised. Not that I'm saying that Nenshi will have 70% of the votes, but I wouldn't be shocked at all if he wins by 5-10% of the votes cast.

Wow, if you are that threatened by chalk on a sidewalk, kids chalk Hopscotch squares on a sidewalk must send you into a complete tizzy.

You do know it's chalk? Calling 311 is just wasting Taxpayer's money.

I can just imagine a 311 operator's face as someone calls in complaining about chalk writing on a downtown sidewalk.

Let's not jinx it! The key tonight will be getting the vote out. This importance of this cannot be overstated. When voter turn out is 20-40% on the aggregate, a candidate that benefits when turnout increases to 50% stands a high chance of winning, or making it close. The split in in the popular vote will be an important factor as well (if Barb's support slides relative to the polls, the candidate that absorbs most of it has a major advantage).

If anything it will be an interesting exercise in determining if youth will put their vote where their mouth is when politically engaged.

Wait a second - we have (tens of?) thousands of plastic and steel signs littering every square inch of public space. With the wind we get in this city, many of them have blown into traffic and at pedestrians. Based on every election up until now, a large number of them will still be up halfway through winter, and I'll be cleaning the 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 things out of my yard in April once the snow goes. I'm now personally responsible for killing at least one full-sized tree just cleaning out my mailbox from all the unsolicited campaign spam, and I can no longer answer my 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 telephone because 90% of my phone calls are now robo-dialers from Barb Higgins.

Chalk, which cannot possibly harm anyone even in a person's most insane imaginings, washes off in the first rainstorm, and isn't even noticeable unless you're staring at your feet - THIS is your concern?!?

You're a piece of work, my friend. A real piece of work. Get some 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 perspective.
