Yeah, it's handy. Winnipeg had a bit of a rep down east of being a redneck western city as well - until we elected an openly gay mayor. Ever since then things just haven't been the same. As much as I'd rather everyone be elected and recognized for their accomplishments... there's something to be said about "tokens" in this respect. If nothing else it helps to break down some boundaries.

Good job "Purple Dawn" volunteers! Can we get some pictures of the work you did up at some point?

She took this pic with her Blackberry in the very early morning (Shawnessy LRT station).

There was another message on the other side saying something about the LRT being improved.

We're vindicated already by having had the first viable Muslim candidate of any major city in North America. It doesn't matter if NN doesn't win. He's awoken the youth vote (or at least youth interest, we'll see today if they actually vote) and shown the world that Calgary can see past race and religion.

I'm so proud of this city right now.

Saw my first Jon Lord election sign on Saturday (yeah, thanks for coming out). "Vote 4 Lord. Soccer and Snow Removal". Huh??

Exactly what I was thinking. Even if Nenshi loses, the fact that he's one of the front runners says it all.

These were written all over the beltline this morning.

Very positive comments for Nenshi on a Globe and Mail article about the Albertan election.

Are there polling booths set up in the universities?

Thanks for posting that Jeff. My wife and I actually watched the whole thing and it got her engaged and wanting to vote for Nenshi.

After seeing some of Barb's answers to questions on Plan It, where she effectively said it was a population cap by comparing it to the cap Okotoks tried, I am more afraid if she wins than McIver. She's just so ignorant.... A perfect pawn for any special interests like developers.

That will probably be very beneficial for Nenshi. It's a great way to of getting younger voters to vote and they should being doing it today as well.

Thought that this link was pretty interesting. It seems from comments left on the Herald Open Forum that many people are supporting Nenshi
