I just noticed that the Art Gallery of Alberta has put up a new 3d rendering and walkthrough on there website http://www.artgalleryalberta.com/content/view/65/105/ it looks fantastic.

Hopefully the New arena can be just as edgy, well Edgy for alberta anyways.

Where is this?

Just wandered over to HF Boards to see what non-urban enthusiasts think.

So far, it's being compared to a giant toilet bowl...

I guess we'll have to see what other proposals are floating around. One thing's for sure, it better be bold. Everything HOK has come up with in the last little while is pretty bland. I want to see something creative, and that's what I like about this DUB proposal.

^ Anyone who doesn't like it is going to make a negative comparison like that, no matter what it actually looks like. But that would be a pretty nasty comparison to get stuck with...

Anything that is bowl-shaped can be compared to a toilet. It looks kind of like a raised, smaller version of an outdoor football stadium to me.

I think it's an interesting design, and it really caught me off guard. I can't wait to see some alternative plans and renderings that surface in the next year.

2000 stall underground parkade is part of project.

I'm on the ladder on this one. It's an interesting design, certainly, and if it went ahead I wouldn't be against it per say, but I would definitely like to see other designs first (and would likely chose something else).

The nice thing is that we are finally seeing some concepts and ideas on what the new barn could look like. This is how we need to approach this as it will ultimately be 'value engineered' at the end of the day.

Those two are going ahead and were Phase 2. The tower is between them further to the west.

Lame... that's one of the worst and most difficult situations to deal with, when an owner talks the talk of preservation, but ensures the building becomes so derelict either though lack of maintanance, lack of security leading to vandalism and arson, (or perhaps 'accidental' fire which isn't so accidental) that the city ends up demanding the owner demolish it.. demolition by neglect..

i also love Oriole Park at Camden Yards, especially their decision to integrate 'The Warehouse' along the back...which makes me start to think about the Molson Brewery site.

Yeah it is a brutal loss, but I do know they are preserving the arched entrance way to integrate into a new development

SO i go to Boston for 7 days and you guys tear town a beauty, propose a new rink, and have temperatures far above those i had to deal with there.

Thanks a lot!

Rink - needs some fine tuning but overall right direction

"New $250,000,000" city tower - i posted that from their proposed capital projects 2 weeks ago... it is a consideration but nothing anywhere near close i dont believe.

Ironwood - makes sense
