Chapulines (grasshoppers) are delicious. If you like dried or fried shrimp, you'll like chapulines. High in protein and basically non-fat, they are very healthy---toasted and seasoned with lime, garlic, and chili, they make good tacos, or you can use them to top avocados, or just eat them as a crunchy snack with beer or a margarita. MMmm, mmm!

I'm talking about the everyday experience, not some fancy restaurants in the Western world. You really think Mexicans eat the things you posted on an everyday basis?

Most of those pics weren't taken in fancy restaurants. Many Mexicans I know make their own salsas. Tacos are very easy to make. What American doesn't have taco night at home? We use the store-bought corn tortillas, though. We buy the Guerrero brand:
And yeah, most people around the world make easy meals at home. But easy meals don't necessarily have to be bland and flavorless.
