Personally, I think that this is great. I think that Leary knows how to put a bug into the ears of the right people. Instead of Ottawa trying to fight this battle alone, Metrolinx has been awakened to the issue. I expect that Metrolinx is now looking at whether its axles will also wear out prematurely. If so, Metrolinx will likely also apply pressure on Alstom to have them redesign the IPONAM bogie.
Do we know for sure this was Rick Leary's doing? You'd think they would have made sure to give him credit in the article.

In any case, nice to see Metrolinx (and by extension the Province) finally acknowledge our existence and step-up.
