EDIT: I looked into this further. The Province allocated $20 million in 2024, but that was not for the whole project. Site prep and foundation was a separate contract and was done before the full design was completed. I recall thinking that $20 million for 240 beds seemed really cheap. It turns out the full cost is $56 million or $244,000/bed. Seems expensive, but that is what things cost around here these days.
Cost is way higher - somewhere in the range of $200M. It's progressive design-build project, but at this stage they should have a pretty good idea of what the final cost will be. Would be nice for the government to share that with the people paying for it.
