Let's see if we find out before the civic election.
Well they certainly shouldn’t be in Vancouver

They will never go to Richmond, residents in Richmond know how to put up a good fight and win.

I vote Lasqueti Island.

Or some island even further removed if possible.

key is, once you move things, don't let the crack open back up by moving some back in a year or two, downtown could be so nice and a flagship location for our tourism industry, a little bit more enforcement and a little less tolerance would go a long way in improving things

Relocation underway for first of three Granville SROs, but timeline for others unclear

Albert Ouimette is glad to be saying goodbye to his home of almost six years.

Ouimette and his dog Diesel are leaving the Luugat hotel on Granville Street, moving to a modular housing project in south Vancouver.
Quote:
Another former Luugat resident, Kevin Doig, is already happily settled in his new home, a self-contained unit in a Downtown Eastside social housing building.

Doig said B.C. Housing staff have been meeting with Luugat residents since late last year to determine their housing needs, and there has been a “steady stream” of residents moving out of the hotel. He estimates the building is now almost half empty.
Quote:
The agreement shared Tuesday by Boyle and Sim commits the governments of both Vancouver and B.C. to maintaining the city’s temporary modular housing leases for at least five additional years while the longer-term housing options are developed.

we as a society need to get back to the idea of being comfortable with containment zones, spreading a mess all over your home is not a proper solution

Just not in the most historic part of our city. And an environment like that is not healthy for those struggling.

Disappointing. Literally a couple blocks worth of people who might vote in a municipal election and they cave.

Agreed - seems like a great place for a replacement hotel with more rooms. It is a hotel already, and they wanted to replace it with a far greater number of rooms plus a restaurant. All of this near Stanley Park and the cruise ship terminals, and in one of our great neighbourhoods. Seems like a great place for a boutique hotel. It's the type of place I would love to stay in other cities..

I mean is it any worse than the Broadway Plan developments? Not really but it's beside Stanley Park and not on a main road so it seemed pretty easy for them to punt on it.

Councilor Meiszner is boasting about his rejection of this proposal on social media

Much like he did with the three E Hastings towers he also voted to reject this week.

Interesting - 601 Beach Crescent is back, to amend the CD zone. The new concept includes the same 152 social housing units, but now more strata homes (480), and the inclusion of a 206 room hotel. Podium is a large 12-storeys (the hotel?) and the new height would be among the City's tallest at 198m.

Permit Location: 601 BEACH CRESCENT, Vancouver, BC

These would make a lot more sense if they were anywhere near rapid transit. As is, they'll be about over 2km from any skytrain station. If the province could commit to building the gold line, that would make sense, but as is, this doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
