Two apartment buildings on north side have now been demolished, and staging that was on south side building has been removed along with contaminated materials. Two south apartment buildings look ready for final demo.

Nice framing on those pics, Rec Room and 980 Granville https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10067470&postcount=3
Waiting to see if something is going to be attached to that brown post on the right side of the REC Room or what is its purpose.

(Edit: unable to link officedweller's post #3 in this new thread)

The illustration showed a blade sign there. [Changing City blog]

Those housing projects on CoV land around Yaletown are up:

(the images are huge so not including them)

I'm hoping for some colour on the blade sign, versus the standard black and white Rec Room logo.

Interesting now the site plans show the future reconfigured road network

Yeah I didn't realize the completion of the development of the remaining parcels in yaletown could be the trigger for all of the finalized street changes in the neighbourhood, including AAA cycling facilities and an actual connection from the seawall to Cambie Bridge SB

They were posted on the Social Housing thread. Here they are, conveniently shrunk on the Changing City Blog.

And in the meantime, nine years after the City of Vancouver picked up a West Pender site in the bankrupcy of Millennium Properties after the Olympic Village financial melt down, the tower crane has gone up for a non-market housing building.

Granville & Davie:

The proposal is to allow for the development of a 33-storey mixed-use hotel building with a four-storey podium

Interesting that it's like 25% regular hotel, 75% extended stay/furnished.

I'd love to see a large hotel with big-hotel amenities. We haven't seen anything like that constructed since the Pac Rim. Though that could be coming with the other recent hotel proposal: https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/516-...r-hotel-marcon

177 West Pender has a tower crane on it, not sure if that's new or not.

Just need to get a big site size. Not easy.

I hate all the different grids on this hotel proposal ...what a mish-mash

city guy Oct 28, 2023 4:53 AM

the Davie elevation has a staggered grid...looks like an earthquake is shaking the building and the Granville has at least 3 different grids...c'mon and make up your minds

The hotel's design is ok, but I'm loving the location of it. The corner of Granville and Davie needs something like this. That specific area needs some proper TLC.

Having said that, I'll miss the tea shop. As young adults, we used to go there, and buy six pack "off sales" at 3am after the bars closed. You'd ask for the 'cold tea'.
