Does this make any sense or is there a better method?
Of course, you can manually recreate a quoted post if it’s really necessary, but it takes more than a few steps and is a royal pain in the @$$:

According to my Google searches and ChatGPT, the forum administrator CAN make locked threads quotable again. It’s just toggling a setting:

Quote:
Admin Control Panel → vBulletin Options → Message Posting and Editing Options → Allow Quotes In Locked Threads (set to Yes)
Once that is done, it restores the QUOTE buttons in the original LOCKED thread. You click on this button in a locked post you wish to quote:

… then you shut that window and go back to the NEW version of the thread. When you hit REPLY in the new thread, this option will appear at the bottom of your posting interface:

You then hit QUOTE THIS POST AS WELL, and the quote from the locked thread will appear in your posting window, just like we’re all used to.

The setting is easily changed, takes less than a minute, but most forum admins I know don’t like to mess around under the forum’s hood. I’ve had admin access on a forum or two, and I actually like to do this kind of stuff… but in my experience, I am in the minority.

(I just realized I have NO idea who the Admin is here… heck, I’ve never even looked at another thread here besides this one!)

There's a "contact us" page for skyscraperpage.com, the "us" I'd guess being the Administrator(s), at https://skyscraperpage.com/site/contact/

This is looking east on E. Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach. Ads in the LAT indicate there was a Hub Furniture store at 1020 and a Herbert's House of Draperies & Interiors at 900.

A few days I posted two snapshots of the early days of Autopia at Disneyland.

So imagine my surprise when I happened upon this 1945 snapshot among a group of pics. taken on a road trip to Southern California.

eBay

Unless my eyes deceive me the writing on the hotel/motel is AUTOPIA.

I wonder if Walt was aware of this place when he named his amusement ride Autopia.

Here's another snapshot from the same group of photographs.

eBay

I think the theater in the background (showing The Unseen) might be the Hawaiian Theater. If that's the case, Zinzibar is in building the Florentine Gardens inhabited.*

*As I was typing this it all came flooding back too me: Yes, Zanzibar was in fForentine Gardens, right?

Here are a couple of 3D color slides from the early 1950s showing the new NBC Studios in Burbank. (being sold separately by a different eBay seller)

#1

"Los Angeles NBC Studios 1950s Original 3D Stereo View Slide"

eBay

This is obviously the NBC Studios in Burbank & it appears to have just been built. Wow!

The next slide is an even bigger treat.

#2

"Los Angeles NBC Reception Room 1950s Original 3D Stereo View Slide"

eBay

I am fascinated by this slide because it's the first time I have seen a photograph of the NBC/Burbank lobby!

I wonder if there are any other photographs of the lobby online -
There must be, right?

Search and find.

Hmmm. One never knows what lies beyond when one opens a new gate. We start with the above Autopia:

LATimes, 8/28/1932

LATimes, 1/3/1933

But Mr. C.F. Schader is someone whom we should get to know:

LATimes, 5/11/1907

LATimes, 5/11/1909

LATimes, 4/3/1910

LATimes, 4/14/1910

LATimes, 5/9/1926

And so, recognizing the need to accommodate people in Phoenix, we return to the subject of Autopia, which he purchased in 1932, as we saw above. As we also saw above, he put it up for sale the next year. And then:

LATimes, 3/10/1934

Schader also was involved in a number of other significant L.A. area doings.

Closest to the camera is the Hawaii Theater.

Thanks for figuring out the location of Autopia, odinthor. I appreciate it.

. .but I have to admit I'm disappointed the location turned out to be Pheonix AZ and not Los Angeles.

& thanks for the information on Mr. Schader and his connection to the Arcadia Hotel in Santa Monica.

I'm sure Walt sent his goons to whack the owner. No one must know!

Wondering if anyone can identify this mission style church.

https://postimg.cc/n9XCJbkG

This is a screenshot from the the film LIPSTICK (1976 - Paramount Pictures)

Strangely enough, the only other reference I can find is the same church was used in DIE SISTER, DIE! (1978 - Cinema Shares International)

http://postimg.cc/HcGS5dJx

Both films had scenes filmed around Sierra Madre so I assumed it would have been around there, but so far I am coming up empty.

Here's the post above with the images embedded. I've found many similar churches, but no exact matches so far.

TB1998, if you want the images to show, click "Share" in PostImages, select/copy the "Direct link", go to NLA and click the "Insert Image" button, paste the image link and click "OK".

I thought we had pretty much seen all the Art Deco markets from the late 1920s and early 30s but I don't recall this one...(if we have seen the market before pretend we haven't.)....See how that works.

erold file / MYSTERY LOCATION

I think I would have remembered it because of the rather clunky pylon that almost looks like a smokestack!

Here'a closer look.

As you can see there are Bs on it.

Does anyone know where this building with the lunky clunky pylon was located?

P.S. (from my notes that I just found - it was possibly somewhere on Virgel in East L.A.)
..That narrows it down. ..ha ha

In this aerial dated April 3, 1984 I wanted to show you what's going on behind the Pacific Electric Building.
