Two weeks ago I had the opportunity of flying Fiji Airways direct betweeb YVR and Nadi, as we visited Fiji for a vacation. It's a convenient connection with a 11.5-hour night flight to NAN.
We were originally scheduled to fly on their new A350, but FJ changed the outbound date from Friday to Saturday, which had us lose a day. No compensation has so far been offered for the lost hotel night, since schedule change was "less than 24 hours" at 23h and 55min.
So, we were off to a bad start and also the plane got changed to an ancient A330-200. The plane had some serious wear-and-tear and had an ancient infotainment system with a joystic.
The flight itswlf was still pleasant and their policy allows for 2×30kg of luggage in Economy, which is a lot. Just be aware, that their inter-island ATR's only allow for 15kg of luggage, if you are traveling outside of Viti Levu.
On the way back we flew with their brand new A350 on service to LAX. It is a very plesant plane and I have to compliment food being good on both flights. A350 has a 3+3+3 which was less convenient for us than the 2+4+2 founf on A330.
The airport in Nadi is a good connection point onwards to Australia and New Zealand, which is the traffic FJ is serving here. So, if you are on your way there, I would consider Fiji Airways as an option, as prices can be pretty attractive.
