I agree with you 100%. When the city approves this building in 5 years time as a 6 story building, the developer will be long moved on. I would love to see more projects like this happen, but nothing seems to happen in this city. Every time I log on to any of the local threads, whether it be the main thread, retail, restaurant thread, etc, it's a dismal reminder of what little goes on here compared to anywhere else. Putting big cities aside such as Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, you just look at the Atlantic Canada threads. Cities like Halifax, Moncton, and Fredericton are bustling with projects. Condos and apartment buildings are going up everywhere in those cites, while the big story here is "duplex finally gets approval". For #%$# sake, the story of the year in St. John's is that we may be getting a Taco Bell. Between miles of red tape and archaic ideals, I'm afraid nothing is gonna change anytime soon
