Level heads often prevail, if the NDP, conservatives and bloc show there may be some instabilities there, by making carney mad, in the age of social media clips, it could end up being very damaging for carney and the liberals. He has to be very careful.

To say most people have made up their minds is weird, I haven’t even completely made up mine.

Having experienced some eye opening healthcare scenarios here in manitoba recently, healthcare is at the top of my list of concerns. I have a problem with increasing wait times and lack of doctors here in Manitobas hospitals and lack of beds. Long wait lists for treatments. This needs to change.

IMO this will be a Liberal mandate regardless of the debates. As of right now its a decisive 190 seat LPC majority. The race has been unusually steady the last two weeks. The numbers have barely moved. If the debates have a horrible Carney experience where he snaps and yells at them in a rude way and he fumbles the French one... LPC will still win but it will be a 160 seat minority instead.

However, Carney doesn't really have to win the debates to get his majority. He simply has to coast along without any major gaffes. If he can manage that in both debates it's over and he wins.

Last I checked healthcare is under Provincial jurisdiction. And I highly doubt the Federal Conservatives that typically cut funding for most Social programs (to pay for tax cuts for corporations and wealthy under the guise of "balancing the budget"), the largest of two being education and healthcare will make your situation in Manitoba any better.

Ontario's healthcare has gotten noticeably worse under Doug Ford's administration. I only have a family doctor because a successful local pharmacist built a medical office building on top of his store expansion which attracted a handful of doctors to move in.

I do hope we see a strong Liberal showing in Alberta. That will help avoid the circus that is developing there.

No, it's not weird.

If you don't know who Poilievre is after 20+ years in Parliament as a vocal "attack dog" of the CPC and 2.5 years as Opposition leader then you're living under a rock.

Also, you're the guy that was constantly trying to peddle the conspiracy theory of Carney being directly linked with Ghislaine Maxwell as if he personally sexually abuses minors
So I highly doubt you're voting for Carney.

Yes, that's true, as I recall.

And going back to the 1988 U.S. election, the deciding debate moment was when Dukakis was confronted about capital punishment, and answered, quite rightly in my view, that, no, he would not support capital punishment for the perpetrator even if it were his own wife who was raped and murdered.

I never said he abuses minors, I questioned his integrity because of hanging out with people who do. BIG DIFFERENCE. He also has many other connections through his past careers that could potentially align him with trump. Just like the conservatives have their Republican connections, now so do the liberals.

I won’t vote liberal because of the shit show they displayed for the last ten years. They don’t deserve to form government again. They’ve made life harder for many Canadians and I won’t support that just because of the “I’m scared of America.” Wave that’s taken hold of the country.

Yes it is weird.

I really don’t give a fuck about carney or Pierre when it comes to my vote as I have to vote for my member of parliament.

I have to vote for the candidate who I think is best going to represent ME. Not the party leader.

Ted Falk has done a decent job, I think, being the MP in my riding, so if I vote conservative, that’s who’s getting my vote, but I feel he hasn’t done enough to advocate for better healthcare in my riding. So I’m looking at what the NDP candidate has to say.

It’s been reported from many sources both left and right the guy has a temper.

This could very easily overwhelm him.

Then the tiktoks begin and social media will have a field day.
Stephen Harper had quite a temper but never lost it in front of the camera as far as I remember. I don't think that Carney will be any different.

It's PP who will be watched closely as well. He may try to put a positive spin on his plans but voters will decide whether or now it's seems genuine. Voters will also be watching to see if he is just too negative and out of touch or not. The only real strategy for success for PP is to try to move voters away from the LPC to the NDP or BQ. I'm curious to see if PP compliments Singh or Blanchet.

I wouldn't say that PP is any better unless you are a hardcore supporter of him. PP loves to attack back at whoever asks the question which plays well for some but definitely not for most.

Absolutely. The NDP talks a lot of "bread and butter" issues like affordability, childcare, and housing which I'm sure are all focus-group approved. Unfortunately while getting people to say, "That sounds nice" is fine when you're at or near the top, but when you're far back in the polls you need to grab people's attention. You need to inspire passion, drive headlines, and get people talking. Aka you need a breakthrough. If you get one, you don't just have to rely on getting voters to shift away from the LPC or Greens; you can even pull in people who wouldn't even have voted because they didn't see anything interesting on offer. That can make a big difference in ridings where the margin is tight.

I think that strategy probably plays well with the base, many of whom are attracted by the grievance politics. That's because one of their biggest grievances is the "woke media" who they think are filled with closet commies and out-of-touch elites with humanities degrees conspiring to suppress the party's support. But that doesn't do much to expand the base.

Although normally, if you have a decent base of around 1/3 of voters you can often win just by keeping them energized which drives enthusiasm and turnout. And pulling the vote can be one of, if not the, biggest deciding factors in a typical election. But the challenge is recognizing a non-typical election and adapting your strategy.

Most Canadians won't even watch the debate. It's not 1980 with 6 channels on TV (or whatever) and no Internet, streaming services and dozens of other distractions.

Roughly 31-38% of eligible voters don't even bother to exercise their civil right (I consider it a duty to vote). I'd be pleasantly surprised if the turnout for this election was over 65%!
99% of the time the debates make no difference.

An interesting tidbit I never realized is how the bond market forcing Trump to back down off tariffs was headed by Carney and other allies buying US bonds and agreeing to sell them if the tariffs continued.

Quote:

Carney, Japan And The EU proved America's Idiot Emperor Has No Clothes
https://deanblundell.substack.com/p/carneys-checkmate-how-canadas-quiet

So far Carney has done more to save this country in a month than many leaders in his interim position could ever hope to do. Trump is finding out the downside to waging an economic war with an economist.

Poilievre is on permanent snap. He rages all day, every day, for decades.

A little fire now and then is a good thing. Carney has a temper, for sure. Poilievre doesn't. He goes from being pissed off to subdued, and there is little else on display.

100% of the time you criticize Carney.
100% of the time you don't criticize Poilievre.
And you expect us to believe that you haven't made up your mind?
