Rewatch the Jordan Peterson Pierre interview... some of those clips need to be turned into an attack ad.

Smith is literally the best thing to happen to the Liberals in this campaign. I really believe she is making the rounds, meeting with MAGA politicians and influences, to get her name out there, so that she will eventually move to America, and become a pro-Trump pundit.

The whole "working for Canada spiel" is just a cover." She knows that the RCMP are on to her, and she is deeply unpopular in Alberta. Once she is offered a huge contract with FOX News, she will resign. There is zero question that she is a traitor at this point, and would sellout Canadians best interest, if it was in her benefit.

It might not be a bad strategy to give Wab Kinew some time to gain more political experience as Manitoba Premier by naming a "gap" (sacrificial lamb) leader for a couple of years after Jagmeet Singh. Then Kinew can come in as federal leader two years before the next federal elections.

It’s Loco101 who’s out of touch, not P’tit Renard. Don’t just ask me, ask any of the other handful of Québécois still active here (Acajack, ToxiK, Zeej…)

I would prefer to ask someone who is impartial, and is not on the far-right end of the political spectrum. People, who hate the Liberal Party (or any party on the political spectrum) with a passion, to the point of an obsession, may not have the best read on their fellow citizens.

I saw those gross pics and felt compelled to comment caustically.

I agree completely. I am a long-time NDP voter, and I like and generally approve of Singh, but this mimetic overemphasis on the absurd minutiae of cultural affairs leaves me completely cold.
And the question you singled out was one of the ones that left me most irritated. Of course I favour diversity, but not at the expense of sanity and reason. If I were in a position to hire someone and had an assemblage of candidates in front of me, I would take the one most qualified and suited for the job, whatever his or her colour, religion, ethnicity, sexuality, etc., etc. I suggest to the NDP that this kind of piffle is repellent to most people.

Good to know!

I like Kinew. I first became aware of him when he worked with the CBC. He seems personable, moderate and intelligent He has done a good job so far as Premier of Manitoba.

He does have a telltale giveaway accent (not that that matters) but his French is really good. It's Pierre Poilievre/Jagmeet Singh level. Better than Stephen Harper and way better than Mark Carney.

Kinew is interesting, if only because he had a lot of personal demons (alcoholism mainly) in his early life, but quit drinking in his late 20s, and took up MMA and self-improvement to better himself.

Far cry from Scott Moe, who actually killed a woman by running a stop sign, and never apologised to the family, until the son went public a couple of years ago (he was a teenager at the time, and was in the vehicle Moe smashed into, thus watching his mother die). Still, he made no effort to meet with the surviving family members.

Moe and Kinew both have DUI's.

Kinew has some criminal stuff in his past like a racist assault on an Indo-Canadian(?) taxi driver for example.

But he is a fantastic example of someone given a second chance and impressively getting his life back on track.

Indeed. I am a big fan of not judging someone too harshly based on a single stupid act they have committed in the past, especially when they were an impulsive teenager.

Everyone deserves a second chance.

I am not a bleeding heart however. If you have a record of recurrent miscreant behavior with several convictions, especially crimes of violence or drug crimes, then I think a lengthy prison term is definitely in order. Society has to be protected from people like this.

I wonder whether he'd be NDP or Liberal at the Federal level. Both have courted him.

Interesting. If he wants a meaningful political career, the federal LPC would be the better choice.

He would definitely be in a federal Liberal cabinet, and on the short list for party leadership.

Kinew did have some run-ins with the boys in blue in the early 2000s. However, he did get his pardon 10 years ago. Personally, it probably helped that he became a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, as a way of channelling anger. One can tell at times, he is visible trying to control his temper in the Legislature or dealing with getting grilled by the media. Definitely not the type of guy I would want to mess with lol.

I was trying to figure out your endgame and hadn't thought of this but makes a lot of sense. She is a great communicator with a good TV face. The Conservative grift game can easily put you into the work 20 hours a week make a few million a year camp.

I guess I'm not quite in the Québécois forumers club because I moved to Ontario 10 years ago and lio didn't mention me, so that probably makes me slightly more impartial.

But yeah, I think lio is right about the fact the PQ has good chances to win the next election and a new referendum is a distinct possibility. It's useless to predict what the results of said referendum will be at this point, but let's just be realistic.

The PLQ will gain a bit of momentum when they get a new leader but it's probably not going to be enough to make a huge difference. The CAQ is pretty much a walking corpse right now and Legault is deeply unpopular. QS has become a borderline marginal party and I don't see things changing, even with a new co-leader.

That’s actually a very good thing.

Look, I am conservative, but I really like the way Kinew campaigns and communicates, and this is someone coming from Alberta.

Kinew’s policies aren’t as left as the current Singh-led NDP, and I can appreciate that as a middle-class individual.

If Kinew makes a run at the next federal election, the CPC will lose seats in the prairies, hard stop — as long as he moves the party a bit more back to the center.

If I’ve learned anything in the past few years, provincial NDP are not the same as the federal NDP.

Having Kinew as prime minister in the long term will be very symbolic for Canada.
