There was
a report earlier this year to Council that identified problems with the existing headquarters, that are part of Firehall #1. The location is compromised by the rail tracks (as the Prior Street underpass is on indefinite hiatus) and the current building is not to seismic code any more - far from ideal for a firehall. However, there's no plan to relocate the building yet, or any financing in the current capital budget.
If/when a replacement location is confirmed, it would almost certainly be larger. The temporary firehall that was proposed for Gore is exactly that, urgently needed, and temporary. If/when Firehall #1 was relocated, it should be big enough to replace the existing hall, and any interim temporary hall.
