Patient rooms aren't on that side of the building.

I guess you can't comprehend how big this building is.

I comprehend. There was a time when ample daylight, greenery and natural cross-ventilation was a hallmark of healthcare architecture, and understood to contribute to wellness. Unfortunately we gone down the sterile factory route, and BC hospitals seem to be the most hideous even by Canadian standards

I would be interested to see which hospital you are talking about.

Black metal panels on the north and south elevations have been installed, I'll try to get better photos another day.

I think it was going up the other side of the building a few weeks ago but the webcam has some mechanical screening steelwork going up now.

Good video. Moving right along.
Having worked on the Abbotsford Hospital (called out multiple times for 2 years, coring for Upper Valley Fire Protect) was curious on the timelines, Googled it, 2004 to 2008 about the same as this project.
Considering the scope of the project (wiring, plumbing and seismic integrity) being above standard building codes, I would never fault them for taking to long but with St-Paul's falling apart, the sooner the better.
I'm sure hospital staff are going to appreciate their new surroundings.

As the video shows, the front facade is more vibrantly coloured than earlier renders, in a bronze finish with some panels inset slightly, and others protruding a little, so not a completely flat surface. The entrance canopies are also now erected, and have natural lumber tree trunk style supports.

Unironically, yes. They can rezone Strathcona for co-ops, below-markets and social housing if they're worried about gentrifying it.

Won't this come about with theVancouver Official Development Plan changes? Strathcona seems to be part of the Metro Core?

It was working class housing so very little would have been remarkable in terms of period architecture worth preserving. It was simple and cheap. If you look at photos taken before the viaducts were built most of it was pretty rundown.
