We had a heavy snowfall in Calgary. This is in Fish Creek Park in south Calgary.

A little chickadee. Their wings are very slightly transparent when they are open. I was only about 3 feet away from it.

^Whoa, that's pretty crazy looking. I like that it applies the distortion to only a selected area; makes for a more "realistic-looking" effect.

^Awesome captures man. I have to ask, though: when you take a picture of someone you don't know, do you usually ask first? Or do they just end up noticing you taking their photo and look your way? Coming from someone who is admittedly insecure about taking photos of other people, I'm just a bit curious. You always document people very well.

Rockies at dawn from my balcony while wearing shorts and a t-shirt. We are experiencing a chinook which means warm winds from the Pacific flow over the Rockies.
We were at +10 C or +50 F this morning! Sunday is going to be even warmer.

Thanks! I use a Canon 30D and I usually shoot in aperture priority unless I'm doing a pano or shooting at night. I always use RAW and use Photoshop for processing. I've been using Photomatix recently, which I've become addicted to :)

Looks awesom! None of my pictures come out that nice... You practice a lot with Photomatrix? They look amazing!

I've always wanted to do HDR but I don't think I'm ready to. Does the noise increase when you make an HDR? Because when I try it does and it bothers me...

Must be the DSLR - and the eye - I have never been able to get that kind of color _AND_ detail out of photomatix (which is addictive).

I won't be taking photos for a while. My camera's auto-focus stopped working today. I have to send it in to Canon for repairs. Not sure how I'll manage w/o it.

From last night. Sorry about the patch of glare in the upper center. I plan on re-taking this one at some point.

^^Dude, major bummer about the auto-focus. You're going to have to try to turn off the photography part of your brain while the camera is out for repair, which could prove difficult. I pretty much walk around all day lining up shots in my mind, and when I don't have my camera with me all of the would-be frames get trapped in my mind and I go a bit crazy.
