The Black and White really works for this one. I would not even try to envison a color pic lest I try to compare it to this great viewpoint.
Color IMOP would distract from the main topic.

Interesting that the artist can set up an easel and take plenty of time and care to produce a marketable piece of art, but if I set up a tripod with a prosumer camera and take time to compose and shoot a high-quality photo, security would be all over me about violating copyrights, and would make me leave.

It is an observation of mine that the more one is out and about observing a city, the greater the likelihood you will come across bizarre sights that exist for only brief periods of time. I happened to find a Pepsi machine in the middle of a side street in Yaletown, a block over from Urban Fare and the Roundhouse Community Centre.

Haha. Last week while sitting in the drive-thru at McDonald's near our house, we saw a guy walking down the sidewalk carrying a mattress on his back. Since he had it facing us, all we could see was his legs sticking out below the mattress as he walked. I really wish I had had the camera. It looked like something from Monty Python.
Thanks to all the rain lately our neighborhood is full of these toads. At night you can hear these little guys chirping away up and down the street and I've been saving them from the lawnmower whenever I mow lately also. I moved 5 last time I mowed just in the backyard.

@Eigenwelt: shit, that reminds me of a Hockney painting. I love the blue on blue on grey.
Umm...let's see, the elevator and community hall are Odessa. The three of cadillac, cage match, and poor grammar are Regina, but the subject matter is totally any town anywhere.
And the fake panorama (it's really just a cropped in half super-wide angle lens shot) is Sunshine Meadows near Banff, Alberta.
The Odessa Community Hall one might be my favourite picture I've taken this year. It doesn't always work well for composition, but the super-wide angle lens I got htis year can really make some interesting stuff. I liked the fact that the Crown Victoria (a classic car for a small town) matched the colour of the hall almost dead on.
I'm learning. I'm learning to carry the camera everywhere cause shit happens all the time.

Here's a photo I took at the start in Bermuda, of the 1984 Tall Ships Race to Halifax. The ship pictured was British and called the "Marques". This may have been the last photo ever taken of her, because 12 hours later she capsized and sank with the loss of 19 crew, including the Captain, his wife, and their young child.

It's the area I spent about ten days over recently (resulting in a slow photo contest.)
